Ladder 49
Just watched this movie...
I do have to say, THANK YOU to all you guys and gals out there who are in the service of the fire dept, I have always had respect for you folks, this just reminds me all over again. I have dated fire fighters... have friends and family who are LEOs, military, (who-ya!) and fire fighters. You are all so amazing for what you do.
One last thing, kinda makes us peons feel like we arent really doing anything worthwhile, not heros. Then I remember I am a big ole scardy cat, who has issues with control.
I couldnt do it anyway, so I am VERY glad we have the couragous souls we do in ther service of our community.
One more last thing, You people need some SERIOUS raises!!! I am constantly dumbfounded at our service folks being paid the pittance they are.
Thank you. Now I am going to go and call the fire fighters I know and thank them personally.

Jessica- It was a good movie, but if u r a volunteer fireman u cant get a raise, lol
I havent seen L49 yet, but I have found whole new respect for men and women who choose to take fire fighting as a career. Become a volunteer for any amount of time and you will learn this respect as well.
I actually did give away the ending. I thought since it was an old enough movie it wouldnt be an issue. However, after GhostTx posted, I edited out the spoiler. My bad, and I am sorry if I ruined it for anyone.
Fordracing, chill out man. I had a coronary when people gave away the American Idol winner. I should have thought before I posted. Either way, you were way out of line dude.
I would voluneteer if there was some kind of support position at a station. To be a part of something so awesome would be great, but I am a huge chicken poo, I couldnt run into a building on fire unless my own kid was in there. I just dont have the nerve for it. I have no problem admitting I am a coward. Its best to know your own weaknesses, right?

Oh for crimneys sake, LOL It was GhostGT, not GhostTX.
This has been a bad run for me and electronics all around this past week. Sigh.
However, I gotta stand by my thumbs up for the movie. From what I understand from all of the fire people I talk to, it is a very good depiction of life as a firefighter, and what they go through.

I like the chemical end of fire fighting for my work ,I was trained to fire fighter standards (hazmat) and have compleate respect for those that serve.

I haven't caught Ladder 49, but Backdraft really made me appreciate firefighters when it was in theaters.
I also had some friends in the volunteer fire department back then. Oi! The stories they'd tell.

Craig, I just went through first responder HAZMAT training and OMG I have a new found respect for people that work with that stuff. By far one of the most dangerous jobs in the world. props to you man!

Thanks Scott it is a very dangerous job but I am lucky I know what chemicals I'm going to run into in the bulding except for the R & D dept (its on a need to know basis ) the worst in the building was a nitric acid explosion involving one worker and I was comander for the team for a hydrocloric acid spill (pure) involving electrical as well.

My job in that situation would be sit on a hill a good ways off with a radio and pair of binoculars.
