Because Cameron wouldn't touch this crap with a ten foot pole.

Unofficial is that it gave me goosebumps and I'm completely willing to overlook its flaws because it was such a large part of my childhood...

2 things that I wasn't a big fan about though... First, the fact that other than a few vehicles it was definately a 2 and a half hour GM commercial. Second, since when was Jazz a Pontiac Solstice? If I remember correctly, he was a porshe.

NOW you're getting down to the nuts & bolts of this thing.

Re-imagined cartoon + 2.5 hour GM commercial + Michael Bay + video game editing - story = movie.

Not!

It's bad enough that you have to watch commericals in the movie theater now, without the movie ITSELF being a commerical to buy cars, buy toys, buy the video game tie-in...and buy the hype. Would've been tolerable if they'd crafted at least some semblance of a plot & characters...but they clearly couldn't be bothered.

I think the movie was sweet. I totally agree that if you were a fan of transformers as a kid and it was a large part your life you let a few things slide. However, as far as it being a GM commercial what movie these days isn't littered with product placement. Another thing that was brought to light for me on behalf of my friend that works at EA games, was that certain car companies (ie. porsche) do not like having there cars sustain damage onscreen. This could also be the case with ford because barricade was not damage really. MY firend knows this beacuse he worked on several car titles and mentioned Need for Speed as an example because they had to leave out car damage because certain companies didnt want it. SO the GM commercial thing could simply be an example of that.

HAVING product placement and being ALL ABOUT product placement are two different things entirely.

Well I don't know if it was all about product placement. They did feature other cars as well. The mustan gwas featured quite a bit. I was so into to the movie and the whole transformers thing coming to life I barely noticed all GM cars until later. People who are really transformer fans could care less if there were all GM cars or not.

Oh and I didn't see anybody complaining about the fact that Barricade was not a mustan gin the original series. We all seem to have accepted that change quite easily

I just took my Stang to see it, at the drive-in! I hope she doesn't get any crazy ideas about turning into an evil robot!

I really liked the movie . My wife thought it was ok. Bumble Bee was pretty cool even though he's a Camaro. I liked how he smashed the yellow Beetle, and I got a kick out of his Bee-iotch air freshener. I just wish there were more Barricade scenes, maybe they could have played up the Mustang vs. Camaro rivalry a bit more.

I haven't seen it, is it as bad as I Robot for being a big commercial or is it just like typical bay with scenes loaded with GM cars(like Bad Boys or The Island)

Sounds like a perfect 'Guy' movie and a great test for a new girlfriend. If she will tollerate it with you on a 2nd or 3rd date, you may have something there....After that and she makes you something to eat and watches Nascar with you, you may just have to marry her...

I went and expected to see:
1) Big a** robots
2) Big a** robots blow stuff up
3) Lots of stuff blown up.

I got what I paid for in spades.

I loved it

I've been having a rough *** few weeks, as has my friend that went with me. It had everything that a dude needs to feel awesome after watching it. Ease up on the "OMGZ!!! NO PLOT!!!"s lol, the movie is not going to be a influential part of movie culture, but that still doesnt stop it from being awesome.

Good fun I must say

PS- now I know we all know this was a big fat GM commercial, that I can live with. BUT did anyone else noticed how many times they asploded GTOs? I THINK I saw two, and I got the humor in that. Anyone else?
