In action films, why is the hero usually called John? it's a bizarre thing i've noticed.

John McClane - Bruce Willis in Die Hard
John Matrix - Arnold Schwarzenegger in Commando
John Rambo - Sylvester Stallone in the Rambo trilogy
John Spartan - Sylvester Stallone in Demolition Man
John Hatcher - Steven Seagal in Marked For Death

 

I have no reason why but I think it's a great name for an action hero.

 

Might have something to do with it being the second most common name for Males in America!!! US Census. And mine is the most common................

the next thriller action movie should use "arin" as the hero. i think that would rock

all my life and i've never met anyone with the same name as me.... unless you count MySpace, but i dont.

i think my parents said they named me after a dude who owned a convenience store in Fiji. can touch this :dance:

I thought John was the most common name.

 

john is also the Master Chiefs name in Halo.....
