JAMES BOND BACK WITH ASTON MARTIN IN "CASINO ROYALE"
Daniel Craig, who will play James Bond in the film, which is due to be released in November 2006 by MGM/Sony, visited the Aston Martin headquarters in Gaydon, Warwickshire, on Friday to view the featured car. While there he met Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Ulrich Bez, and members of the workforce and also took the opportunity to take a short test drive.
In the true tradition of Bond, full details of the car to be used in "CASINO ROYALE" are being kept top secret but the company did confirm that it would be a new model called the Aston Martin DBS.
Dr. Ulrich Bez said: "It is great news that Bond will drive an Aston Martin again and we have built him something special to enable him to do his job in style."
The association with the marque began in 1964 with the film "Goldfinger" when the DB5 was fitted with "optional extras" such as ejector seats and rockets. The last Bond film, "Die Another Day", featured Aston Martin's flagship model, the Vanquish.

Who remembers the Ian Fleming books that were the basis for the movies? In them Bond drove a 1953 Bentley R type that was described frequently as being capable of touring at 90 with 30 in reserve.
Am I the resident old fart here who has to remind you youngters of automotive nostalgia? If so, I proudly accept the position.

Ditto, I liked Pierce.
So Brad, does this mean that there is an AM DBS in "Bond's Reality" which will be made out of a current AM car, or is AM going to actually produce another new vehicle? I always figured he would just drive the new V8 Vantage.

Is it going to be a two-seater below the V8 Vantage? I ask because it seems to me that the rest of their lineup is pretty full size wise. Or will this be the replacement for the Vanquish?

Guys think about it! Think of what holywood can do nowadays. Dying the guy's hair shouldn't be a problem.
I was actually just asking the guy at the Aston stand at Detroit about this. I had thought it was already decided on the AMV8, but i guess that wouldn't be brand spanking new enough. It would be cool if they made a car even smaller than the AMV8, but i think the vanquish is gonna need a redo some time soon. Its basically obsolete next to the DB9, well, if it weren't for that S version they just put out.

Back on topic--any Aston is great. Gorgeous cars. And I wish they hadn't canned Brosnan. He was the best 007 since Sean Connery.
