I was just about to post this...

The thing that chaps my hide the most, is that for 4 counts of child molestion (and various other charges) the MAX sentence is just over 18 years?? WTF? EACH count should carry a minimum 20 yr sentence.

The victims suffer for LIFE, maybe the molester should suffer a bit longer than 4 years for each count?

Not even going to debate whether or not I think the guy is guilty... I didnt watch the trial at all... So, I have no way of giving an informed opinion on it.

 

Well to have 4 accusations says a lot.

It says that 4 times (actually 6, one attempted and one providing alcohol for the purpose of molestation) he acted inappropriately in the eyes of his accusers.

Playing devil's advocate, whose to say that those parents just wanted to get some money out of the guy? Its much easier to win a multi million dollar civil suit when you have a criminal conviction. If he gets acquitted, the civil suit will be harder to win. Look at OJ. Keeping out my personal views, if OJ had been convicted, his civil suit by Nicole's family would have yielded much larger numbers, and a lot faster. HOWEVER, a civil suit has a much less burden of evidence, and that is why it is possible to have an acquital on criminal charges, yet have a civil court find in favor of the plaintiff.

Why Zach? Have you been watching the trial? As I said, I didnt. Its interesting to see what people take from testimony and evidence presented.

Edit: I would love to see the reasoning behind the 5 Guilty votes in the poll.

I wanted to be a trial litigator. I watched every minute of the OJ trial... My one year in law school just means I know enough to be dangerous!

Children have their whole lives ahead of them and to give them a load to carry at such a young age is just outrageous.

Do I think he is guilty? I do not know for sure, nor does anyone else --- IMO, he sure has some funny habits and to have that many different children speak out against him seems very odd. So, he sounds guilty to me.

But then again, Im a mother. And when something involving my children seems strange, I tend to take my kids away from that situation.

 

Lynell, thats precisely part of my point.

As a mother, if my kid was hanging out with an older guy who seemed to have those odd habits, there would be no molestation because my kid wouldnt be in the situation long enough.

Having funny habits doesnt make one a molestor. We can only draw conclusions as to the behavior. A mother would be able to tell if witnessing certain actions as to whether or not they are innocent. If they arent, why leave your child in the situation?

Something smells about this entire case. I dont have enough info to really make definitive statements, but, there is certainly something hinkey.

If he's not guilty and the parents set this up, then I hope the parents fo to trial.

Zach, thats a pretty severe accusation. I am just curious as to what kind of evidence you found to be so incriminating.

 

I don't know if he's guilty or not. I know that any parent who lets there kid stay over with a guy who's known for this kind of stuff most certainly IS guilty. I know who I'd be prosecuting next...
