internet troubles, computer problems...

Starting on Thursday afternoon, my internet connect started slowing. My secured internet network went to unsecured, then it got very, very slow. I could barely access any sites. I have tried everything I can think of. I restarted my modem, exchanged my router for a new one, called Comcast (which was no help), I even reinstalled my operating system (thinking I had a virus), I can connect directly to the modem and everything works fine. If I connect to the router it is as slow as trying wireless. I have been at the end of my rope trying things. I even called my cousin, a tech wiz and he was so puzzled. One of the "diagnose and repair messages says "TCP configuration isn't compatible with my router: disable in order to increase performance". Can anyone help me?

Have you made any changes to your computer or router lately? fiddled with any settings?

Router hooked up to your computer via cat5 or wireles?

NM i just see you replaced the router. Try swapping hte network cable out thats running from yoru computer to router. May be a bad one or something.

Also if you are unsure about virus potentials on your computer, a good malware/spyware prog is Malwarebytes (google search it) and then you can get a good virus scan free from MS now, microsoft security essentials (again google search)

Cool thanks Scott. Yea I will check out malwarebytes. You are the second person to suggest it. But wouldn't you think reinstalling my OS (fresh install) would get rid of any viruses?
As per your suggestion, I switched out the cords and it seems to have fixed it, for now...don't want to jinx it....

I see it's fixed, but let me be the third to say "yes" with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.

Yep! All that happened was my Ethernet cord went bad! All the agony and work I did to reboot my OS and exchange my router (which was luckily still within the window of return ability).

What a difference! I missed quick loading internet and videos!!!
