Lump sum...
1. Build a house that looks like a barn. 3 stories. Bottom floor being garage that can be looked at through the second floor loft.
2. Franchise a Planet Fitness gym.
3. Purchase '66 Shelby GT350 and Triumph Daytona 675(cause a 955 is too much for me, lol) and a few dirt bikes for off road fun
4. Spend a long time test driving cars for my daily.
5. Travel while my house is being built.
6. See that my close family members are taken care of.
7. Complete college trusts for my kids.
8. Invest the rest.

Depends on the amount, but if its really big, I'd do a lump sum and invest a good portion of it. A good chunk would go to building something like this;

Yeah damnit, I want a folly and not one built on some frigg'n hill either, I want it on just enough dry land to surround it with a wall and a nice barbican with a drawbridge.

Well maybe with enough extra space for a trebuchet would be nice as well.

Mainly so I could do this; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9V7zbWNznbs

Cool Yearly payments

I have most everything I want.
20 years worth of payments would allow me to retire today.
No income tax, but there is a 10% lottery tax.
.
I would probably hire a pretty young maid .

3. Quit and volunteer my time for those less fortunate
4. Take my half and buy a nice house (but not hugh hefner style)
5. Buy a Ford GT and mod my Stang to my heart's content
6. Buy every tech device on the planet (iphone, 3DTV, PS3 games, etc.)

Lump sum.

Quit my job.

Go back to school.

Pay off my family's and in-law's debts.

Buy a 2nd home near my in-law's in Florida.

Add on to my current home.

Buy lots of guns and ammunition, spend more time shooting... actively compete in USPSA.

Buy a 2010 Jeep Wrangler Islander... yeah, I'm easy to please.

Edit: oh yeah, and travel too. I'd love to go see Europe... but I'd do it on my dime and not run up a bill for US taxpayers.

I thought that was implied? What else would I use to run over the Camaros with?

You win the lotto and you're gonna need a Raptor limo to haul all your friends around.

so true. Thats why I'd do everything in my power keep it on the down low. No news interviews and if I could help it I wouldn't want my name released as the winner either..

That's part of the deal on most of them. When you accept the money, they have the right to use your name, image, likeness, etc. in tv commercials and other media outlets to promote the lottery.

I think money can buy happiness, but you've got to buy the right things. I don't need a $600,00 car or even a $60,000 car. I'd rather spend money living life rather than live life spending money.

Not a problem. Just have them take a picture of you as "another of Stig's (American) cousins". Some say he...
