My wife just received two job offers, one at Ole Miss in Oxford Mississippi and the other at the University of South Alabama in Mobile. We can't make up our minds on which one to choose.

Ole Miss is the bigger school and will be better for her career, but there are not many job opportunities for me there. Oxford is a small town, similar to where we are now, and we are afraid we will become bored with it.

USA is a newer school and she will be on her own, career wise, but there are several open jobs that I can apply for. Plus, Mobile is on the Gulf, there is lots more to do, and it has the soon to be Alabama Motorsports Park (the one Dale Earnhardt Jr is funding).

If anyone has any opinions about either of these cities it would help us out greatly.

How old are you guys? Do you have kids? What are your hobbies?

 

We're in our late 30's, no kids, and you can probably guess my main hobby (the stang). We like to have a good choice in restaurants, Oxford has good BBQ and Mobile has good seafood.

 

how far from the gulf..cuz if your within 50 miles then you could get some rust damage done to your stang from that salty air

 

Visited Ole Miss a few years back and have been to Mobile multiple times...I would go with Mobile. You have to keep your stang washed more to keep the salt off but you are near the beach, closer to more car shows, definitely more restaurant choices and really there is a lot more to do in Mobile.

It would be an easy choice for me as I have been to both but ultimately it is what is better for you and your family.

 

Thanks for the replys, guys. Yeah, Ole Miss is a really good school, but we couldn't pass up the chance to live near the Gulf. She accepted the job at USA this week so it looks like we will probably be moving at the end of the summer before classes start.

Oh, and I will have to stock up on the Z-7 before I take the stang down there. One of my priorities is to have a two car garage this time.
