I guess Firebirds can fly!
I guess Firebirds can fly!
This wreck happened this morning.
The report says the driver (19 years old) was going about 100 miles per hour when he went airborne.
Cop was just driving down the road checking on a report of something on the road when this guy went flying by him.
They say that the guy was ejected on impact, they do not know if he was wearing a seat belt.
Currently in ICU.
Car busted into at least three pieces. Well I guess I should say three larger pieces. There were parts of the car all over the place.

Thats a tough stereo type to put on "kids", I was once a kid with an 89 Firebird. It was my first street car. I drove that car all through high school with out any issues, tickets or accidents.
The issue is respect and not age. I was taught at a young age to respect cars and what they are capable of. If I wanted to go fast or drive fast I did it at a race track where it was "safer". The issue is cars put in the hand of kids who do not understand nor respect what they have. As a society this is something that should be taught.
This same thing could have happened in any car, not just a sports car. A PI CV can be purchased quite easily and is capable of 120+mph. States and parents need to put more time and effort into drivers ed training. Its not all about how to make a left or how or make a 3-point turn. When you are going to pilot a 2+ton piece of machinery then you need to learn to respect it as well.
Sorry to rant...I just feel there is more of an issue at hand than it just being about a sports car in the hands of a kid.

He was a kid found with drugs and beer. A kia rio would have had the power to get the kid into the bridge. Also when everyone is sayign sports car many people are thinking they are only talking about the cars power when infact they are speaking to the mindset of the car as well. A lotus elise only has like 190 hp but most peoplecall it a sports car.
We do not see many old farts acting this way because the died about this kids age.
It is still a bad idea to give a kid a sports car. end of story.. just beacuse 7% of kids are mature enough to have a side arm(gun) doesnt mean they should nor does it mean its a good idea to see if your kid is part of that 7%.
rant end

I have several things to say:
1) Megan is teh hawtness.
2) Audio is on the left side only... odd.
2) It looks like a V6, but I can't be sure. I dunno if that's a sports car or not. It's about the same as a V6 Malibu overall, I'd think.
3) I was driving home today and had a Corolla 4cyl with a fart can flyin' past me at about 110. I was doin' 70.
That Corolla would be in may more pieces, but I'm also thinking that it might actually have jumped up onto the bridge itself, amiright?
This is not about teens and sports cars. It's all about an out of control teen in any car. It just happened to be a sporty v6. Meh. That he was arrested before with drugs and stuff? Yeah, all the more reason he shouldn't even have a car in the first place.
I hope he recovers, and corrects his issues. But if he doesn't, I don't think society will have a great loss. Too bad for the parents, overall... I assume he has some.

A little more info. Can't remember if it was in the news report.
Halloween of last year he was cited for falure to control in a accident he was in.
Then nine days later is when he was given the ticket for doing 90 in a 65 zone.
The news did not say if it was the same vehicle as now.
I agree it does not matter what vehicle the person is in. Hell he could have been driving a Preious and still done this. Assuming a Preious will do 100
Also I agree it does not matter the age of the driver. Yes with age does come knowledge, and some mature sooner than others, but some folks missed that bus.
Just like stated above. More older folks know how and respect the road and there cars, that is why you see more of the younger ones in these accidents. the ones that would have been like that at a older age did not live long enough to reach real adult hood/life.
Also just depends on the upbringing/how they were raised.
But the biggest factor of all is common sense there are laws for a reason.
My daughter said that the real victom here was the car, the guy is just a Idgit as she calls people.

its clear now one showed this kid the right way.
"Well, which is it then? Kids shouldn't have sports cars, or you should teach them how to use them responsibly? Make up your mind man!"
take the kid to the range and then go home and put the gun back in the locked safe.

The saddest parts of this story is that a car was destroyed and people were late for work. I think the idiot driving gets exactly what he deserves and am extremely thankful that no one else but the car suffered for his stupidity. God does work in mysterious ways. Heh.

Reminded me of Ricky Bobby delivering pizza to his dad at the motel.
