I am so fed up

Dan Brown needs to shoot himself.
I really wish it had been called the monet code or something.
I love Da Vinci and this guy has trashed his name.....
Not to mention the shear volume of lies this book perpetrates..
Now I'd normally not care but brown actually thinks this crap is history and states it's all fact.

What a moron...Now i'm not a religious guy...I could care less but Brown just ignores the facts. I'm not even talking about the religious ones.
I'm positive he's just being a dope because it brings in the bucks...any publicity even bad publicity is good.

I just can't get over how full of himself this clown is.

sorry just had to rant ...it's all this Da Vinci code crap on tv lately

Even Dan Brown says,"Remember, it's a work of fiction". He knows it's not fact. He just wrote a story and he knows it. Everything else is publicity. He is not full of himself but the public is hanging on his every word.

I think it sucks that everyone is taking it so seriously. He made a lot of money and got a lot of people talking. I suppose that's a good thing.

Dan Brown has written a number of good novels, and the Da Vinci Code is just that- a novel. Enjoy it for what it is or get over it.

Yep, he says it's "based on fact", and that's the mindset you have to keep. I'm Catholic and knew it was fiction after the first five pages. It's for entertainment, people. If he had promoted his book as non-fiction, then we'd have something to be pissed about.

First of all, and as mentioned, Browns book has always been marketed as a fiction. Rightist christian groups are blowing the whole thing out of proportion cause they think that some morons are still gonna believe it is the gospel truth (no pun intended).

Second of all, am i the only person who doesnt think it is a good book? Sure some of the ideas are interesting to toy around with, but Dan Brown is an awful writer. The majority is written with the skill and imagination of a high school student.

It is a good book but it has never been marketed as non fiction. It was originally marketed as Faction. A fictitious story line that happens to revolvle around some facts.

Oh and I just wanted to say that I have been gone for a while but now I'm back and this new forum takes a little getting used to. But I am having fun once again reading all the diffrent opinions this place has to offer.

Cheers

Yeah yeah yeah I get that it's fiction..thanks Captain Obvious.
Brown just did next to zero research for this book obviously and claims that he spent years doing research.

My guess as to his claims on this and other he assearts in various interviews I've seen are strickly a marketing ploy and based around the all mighty $$$

I agree with Chris and the key word is "duped"....I don't think Brown has done much to correct that misconception.

Poor leonardo..rolling over in his grave now as to what people wil be thinking of him.

He did research Doug. He researched how to steal his facts from the peole that wrote Holy Blood. Holy Grail. lol.

Which by the way if your looking for something really boring and textbook like to read is the book you need.

I agree -- as a novel, it's a tough read. And the story flows pretty well, but the inconsistencies drive you nuts because you have to re-read a sentence thinking, "What the hell did that say??" Somewhat thought-provoking, but as with everything, don't believe everything you read.

Son and I are going to see it tonight. I guess I don't know what I'm in for. Several people seem shocked we're going. We see a lot of movies-for entertainment, not education or religious instruction.
