I saw Equilibrium at a friends birthday party last weekend, and I was wondering if any of my amigos on TMS has seen it. The movie stars Christian Bale(BATMAN), the plot is sort of George Orwell 1984 Big Brother is watching combined with Matrix action. Heres a plot summary from imdb.com

In a futuristic world, a strict regime has eliminated war by suppressing emotions: books, art and music are strictly forbidden and feeling is a crime punishable by death. Cleric John Preston (Bale) is a top ranking government agent responsible for destroying those who resist the rules. Whe he misses a dose of Prozium, a mind-altering drug that hinders emotion, Preston, who has been trained to enforce the strict laws of the new regime, suddenly becomes the only person capable of overthrowing it.

I thought it was pretty cool and it stars Batman

I've seen it. I thought it was OK but nothing special. It did keep me entertained for a couple of hours.

Thanks for the info Joel, I'll have to check it out. Sounds like it has a bit of "A Brave New World" mixed in as well

oh man, you're right!

I love BNW! It scared the heck out of me when I read it. So many things in that book are so similar to today's world! (test tube babies, mood altering drugs, etc.)
