I'm soooo happy! This past wednesday my mom came home with this beautiful Gibson Les Paul 1957 Goldtop Reissue Custom Shop. The paint is amazing and the sound is great. Here are some pix...

Goldtops are gorgeous. Dad had one years ago, and he traded it for a mesa boogie studio amp.. about a month later, he got a call just to let him know that Hank Williams Jr is now the owner of the goldtop

I wish my boy gave two figs about the guitar. He learned to play smoke on the water and his little cheapo starter has been gathering dust since. My daughter could SERIOUSLY care less.

April, Fender Bass's are fun. Easy to play and usually super quick. I love the Jazz bass though because it does have a smaller neck and allows for quicker actions.

I agree with that. I'm a bass player and got to play a Jazz bass in high school. Now I have an Ibanez EX and it has a nice narrow neck too. Yamaha makes nice basses as well.

I actually started on the string bass (double bass) at 10, picked up the electric bass at 12, then the guitar at 16.

And you CAN play chords on the bass, even with just four strings!
