Jessica- I could not have said that better myself.
I absolutely agree with everything you said!

Shopping is fun, but I always take care of my bills and family first.

Since when is it IMPERATIVE to own a cell phone and dress like you are turning $2 tricks on the corner at twelve?

My soon to be 12 yr old has TWO cells phones, a laptop computer, but is the biggest tomboys you EVER met. Well, its easing up some. She at least will let me put barretts in her hair (It goes to her waist, and its beautiful... I hate her LOL) and she will wear the jewlery we make... used to be that she would shop in the boys section of any store we went to. Now she is talking about going to Tillys for school this coming year.

She has two cell phones.... well, because her dad only lets her carry the one he gave her when she is with him, and wont let her carry it when she is with me. Going between two houses, walking home from school, etc, we got her one too.

Its strange, when we were growing up, there was no need for cell phones. But, I have to admit, things have changed. We used to be able to take off on our bikes and ride til 10pm at this age... Now I wouldnt let my daughter out alone at all until she is in her teens. Maybe not even then. Just seems like the crime is so much worse as we progress as a society. Not to mention, we have something like 6 registered pedophiles locally.
