Growing up digital, wired for distraction
Thought I'd post up this article from the New York Times. The Vishal Singh they talk about in the article is my younger brother
yeah its pretty off topic, but kinda interesting, and my brother managed to get into the NYT lol so if you're bored or interested:

I follow the NY Times on a regular basis (along with many other papers foreign and domestic).
I hadn't gotten to it today. Thanks for the heads up.
Back in the previous century (where I am from), there were plenty of other ways for a bright young student to be distracted.
I found plenty of things to do besides schoolwork.
It must be even harder now to keep focused.

yeah its an interesting situation. on one hand i can definitely say that a certain amount of technology has distracgted me. ive got a much shorter attention span than i used to. i think alot of my and this newest generation do/will suffer from overstimulation of the mind. we're thinking about too many things at once
but at the same time, technology has helped me find alot of focus in my life. if i didnt have a passion for the mustang that was grown and fostered here, primarily in the photoshop/art sections i know for a fact i wouldnt be at the school i am now studying Industrial design. it just wouldnt have happened.
theres alot to think about

Why was there no TMS sticker on his wall or something for the photo?!

because the only ones i own are on my cars :P
he doesnt seem to have gotten nearly into cars as i have. hes been saving his cash for years, as did i at his age, but instead of spending it on a sickass mustang II of awesomeness, he spent it on film equipment and a computer. the way i see it he's doing exactly what i did at his age, but with a different passion. i had cars, he has film. with all the initial difficulty that came with me switching to an "art school" to study Industrial Design/Transportation, I'm really proud of my parents for helping enrich and support his career hopes. my parents were never supportive of my car hobby OR my drawing hobby growing up, but i guess i managed to convince them that a kids passions can take him somewhere (go figure :P). plus hes got more talent for making movies than i could have hoped to have at drawing or fixing up cars when i was his age
also, i'll get that little bugger into a fox one of these days. or at the very least a ford :P
