They're a free email service from Google. They give you 1 GB (why you need a gig of storage for email is beyond me) of mail space and are invite only right now.

well, yahoo just upped their offering to 1 gig
hotmail i'm sure will follow suit to atleast .5 gigs.
the only kinda cool feature i think gmail has is the conversation thingy when you send emails back and forth. but other than that it doesnt seem worth the time to me atleast to tell everyone you have a new email address and update all the sites/services that you gave you current address to

Well, Gmail does have that search thing going for it, instead of sub-folders you search for emails like you would a website. Although for all I know Yahoo could have that too.
