Ford's Plant in Brazil

I found this and thought it was interesting...I hope no one has already posted this- I tried searching for it on here before posting.

Ford's most technologically advanced plant

Could this be the future in the US?

Well that would put a whole lotta folk out of work now wouldn't IT ! although sure nice idea but look at the possible lemons coming off the line then, hit the binders on a fast stop & the whole top slides off the body ? needs people to do it right !

mmm true...I am just afraid with the demands of the UAW that this could become a reality here...unless Ford and the UAW can make compromises that will allow Ford to stay on the plus side and make money in the automotive industry...

They'd either has all those robotics bought & paid for now or they hope to make huge cuts to be able to refit a plant to make it happen , if that the case I'd think it's in the works and being kept very quiet

The Brazil plant seems to be a modern day equivalent to Ford's Rouge Complex. But back in the old days, it wasn't individual suppliers there on the site, Ford owned everything - steel mills, forging, stamping, casting, glass making. They had their own ship docks & railroad. Maybe it's time for Ford to do that again, instead of being dependent on outside suppliers.

I don't know if they could build a complex like the Brazil one anywhere in the US these days, with the UAW, EPA, OSHA, etc. standing in the way.

They should have thier own port builders etc and not have to be waiting on parts to build a backorder vehicle, in time like a roll of paper towel theyreduced then history comes along and starts in some way to repeat it self. Now the towel comes in a new & improved size uh huh !

well, I thought it was pretty cool how all of the suppliers were on site and had all the pieces installed as the car was being built in that fashion...it sounds like a pretty good theory...but does it work as good as it sounds?

That is the future. If they can't do it here then they'll go some where else to do it.....And we will pay for it in more ways than one.
