did anyone else go to the EAA oshkosh air show or going too?

I went and it was great. Also I had no idea but there was a Ford booth there and guess who happened to be signing autographs....Carrol Shelby.

I didn't wait in line but i did take his picture.

But there were so many great planes to see. It really was a great time.

 

I didn't make it up there this year and I don't have time this week yet, but I live close enough that planes have been looping over the area. I didn't know about Carroll Shelby being there, otherwise I may have fought the masses to get a handshake.

 

Do you know about the bad news involving that show and a F-86 Sabre? If you do that happened just right up the road from me, less than a mile.

 

Hmm... I know a couple days ago a plane with a couple landed short and flipped and blew up killing them both but i didn't hear about anything involving an F-86. Do you know if that happened today?

Nope. It was yesterday. A beautiful f-86 Sabre owned by Wyatt Fuller crahsed and burst into flames. It killed him. I didnt even know what was going on until the 3rd firetruck came screaming by my house. Ill give you some links so you can see the aftermath. Ill also get a pic of what the plane looked like before yesterday.

I was lucky enough to see it fly and it was awesome seing the old bird up there giving it heck.

 

Whats the boat & airshow in Chicago that is right on the water, i cant remember the name of the airfield, but its border is the lake.

I was probably 17 and visiting my mother while she was working in Chicago with a bank merger and we went up in the John Hancock building right before the Blue Angels started their demonstration. It was amazing to watch it from above! Plus they were buzzing between the buildings and very close to where we were.One of the most amazing thing i've ever experienced.

 

I didn't know there was air show in Oshkosh.

If I knew I would've come, I got nothing better to day all day anyway.

 

How long have you lived in Wisconsin Zoran? The air show up here is huge. Carroll was here last year also, showing the GT500. This year EAA auctioned off a GT-H. Final price was $250,000. I suppose that is a fair price. First car for sale to the public, only 500 made, yeah I guess it was worth it to someone.

I really don't pay much attention about what is happening in Wisconsin. Big part of me is still in Idaho where I used to live before.

 

Every year I procrastinate about going until its too late. Had to chance to work many shows when I was in the Navy. I saw that F86 i FL a few years ago at a warbirds show. Beautiful plane.
2 years ago my kids got me a ride in a B17 for Fathers day. What a trip!

 

Does anyone remember a yellow 1968 Shelby GT-500 KR convertible being at the 2009 show? Any pictures?
Since I'm new here, I haven't figured out all the navigation techniques yet. Perhaps there was a thread somewhere having to do with the show.
