Diet drinks and the sugarless
And I don't want to offend anyone I care about people. And I value lives as much as my own and it kills me to see good people get sick and die. I lost some good people in my life. I'm sure y'all have as well. Just think about it.
Too much of any sugars - incl from carbs - affect T2 (and cholesterol).
I rarely drink any carbonated beverages. I don't mind sugar but I pay attention to how much. I don't consume artificial sweeteners period. Ice tea, coffee, whisky, straight up. Hot tea either honey or molasses (iron). My family has no history of heart attacks or diabetes, bit of cancer on one side. So my precautions are just common sense and balance for good health so as to live to a hundred+ and be active the entire ride.
Had a round at the medical community a number of times this past year. First time since 99. I was amazed at two things:
a) how computerized everything is in every room/office, and
b) the waiting rooms all now have seats that were 1 1/2 times standard width. I watched in amazement as jumbo sized nurses and staff waddled down the hall as they clutched their jumbo soda's. Swish, swish, duh. double duh.

There are so many sources of conflicting data. One of the more detailed posts I've seen on aspartame can be found in this Runners World forum.

I think she'd make an awesome tattoo.
