Dear a**hol*s from 10-1-2004...

Thank you.

Thank you so *VERY* much for my incessant night time parking lot paranoia.

Since that Friday night to start the month of Halloween, when you jerks came upon me with your knives and jacked my car and stuff, I've been dealing with anxiety in parking lots. Overall, as I can see during the day, it's not a huge issue... just trying to be aware is a lot of the battle won.

But when it's night, and there's any bit of the lot that's unlit... or worse, the huge majority of it is unlit... and there's places to hide... I am absolutely worried into a semi-panic attack.

I've been told a gun would help me feel secure. I feel I'd just shoot myself by accident. I've been told attitude would help. Indeed it has in a couple of 'hey misters, can ya...' incidents. But nothing would prepare me from not being able to see exiting a building with light... and that is where I simply can't handle it anymore.

As of tonight, I'll not be able to do a certain amount of work due to the night ******* I get at certain places. This sucks so almightily, I cannot express. My upper *back* hurts due to the wrenching it got while I was trying desperately to get in my car and exit the lot... and so desperate was I about it that I forgot to turn off one light, and had to re-park, get out, safe the alarm, turn off the light, reset the alarm, and do it all again.

Henceforth, this will never happen, as I'll never be at that location at night ever again, until and unless they install major league lighting. It sucks so bad there. And frankly, I'd like to have seriously angry words with the proprietor who asked me to do work there in this condition... does he value life so little?

But it's not about him. It's about the jerks who robbed me those 5 and change years ago.

So thank you, jerks. Thank you so very, very much. I'm so much more screwed up than I used to be, and I don't think I'll ever be over it at this rate.

Yours lovingly,

houtex

/Sorry to rant... but I had to express it somewhere. Thanks for puttin' up with me, y'all.

Bastards!

All I can say is Karma is a *****, and those criminals are either taking it in the *** in prison because they got caught finally, or they're dead in a ditch from a gun shot wound. That doesn't help you now, but it is a definite possibility.

That truly sucks, Houtex. I hope you can find a way to overcome your fears. It's certainly not anything I want to live through. I'm glad you weren't physically hurt on top of the emotional pain and suffering. A very close friend lost her mother to a robbery in a mall parking lot. She took her grandchildren (my friend's kids, they were 4 and 6 at the time) shopping for new shoes. She was shot in the head at point blank range in front of the kids in the parking lot. For what, all for the lousy $10 she had in her wallet. Senseless The shooter died by lethal injection a few years ago.

Heh, thievery is on the short list of things I have very little tolerence for. Most people work hard for the things they have so I have very little sympathy for the knuckleheads who somehow think they are entitled to your stuff by dint of the fact that they can simply grab it.

Now I'm not saying I'd go out of my way to make thier life miserable, its just that I'm ultimately apathetic toward whatever nasty fate might befall them be it escaped derranged elephant or super-glued to the landing gear on the space shuttle.

Us Bobs must think the same way. Very well put, I have the same feelings as you towards thieves.

That sux. Maybe get one of those big ol mag lites. You might look like a cop and also you would have something in your hand to hit the bad guy with. Also you might want to start taking self defence classes or a gun training course. Having a gun won't make you feel all that much safer unless you know how to use it efficiently. Tx has conceled carry don't they?

I remember you posting about this after it happened. Absolutely sucks how it has affected you. A flashlight works wonders. They make some very bright models that are small enough to fit in your pocket these days. LED models are great. That is what I use at work (LEO in case you don't remember). My Maglite is bright enough to use as a landing lite for airliners. I have an INOVA that fits in my pocket for back up light which is also LED and very bright. Hope things get better for ya dude.

+1 on the Mag lite. Tae kwon do, judo, or kung fu classes would go a long way in boosting your self-confidence.

That sucks man. Those scumbags don't deserve any sympathy. And the owner of the place is sure a cheap m********** for not fixing the lights.
Jujitsu can do wonders too. Why just simply stop them? Break one or two limbs while you're at it
