I need big time computer help this time.
I'm running on safe mode right now.

Welp, today in the morning I tried to start the computer, but it would restart itself right before it would get to the desktop screen... it would say that there was a program or something that did not let it start, so I had the computer start with settings that worked before today. It still would not start and said that "system/driver32/config." (sp?) or something, was missing, and that I had to perform the Recovery to get it back, so I did.
It was working fine for it having to go to the original settings. The first thing I did was get on IE and start downloading all of the Windows Updates that it lost. It restarted about a couple of times while it was downloading and installing the updates, but on the last one it restarted and did not start up again! The same problem.
I am thinking that it has to be the newest Windows update. I have the computer automatically update itself at 3:00am every morning. And I believe Windows usually gives out new updates on Tuesdays (today is tuesday!).
I don't feel like having to do the recovery again and manually install all of the Windows updates and see if the newest download was the problem. But if I have to, I will.

Could it be that it was the Windows Update that did this to my computer?
If so, What should I do?

If you think it's something else, what can it be??

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!

welp, it seems like I fixed some of the bugs out  Back on normal mode, and have updated everything that needed updating, and it seems to be running fine (actually, faster than before)

It is very possible that it was a problem with the windows update, if in fact one was installed. It would have been that the update was corrupt, something didnt download right, or something just didnt get installed right. All of these can and do happen from time to time.

If it keeps showing these symptoms, I would run some kind of check on the hard drive, beyond the normal scan disk stuff. I have seen hard drives that are starting to go out exhibit this basic problem as well. A system file gets corrupted due to a bad sector or cluster, the pc wont boot. You re-installed that file (windows then puts it in a different location because it cant rewrite it to the orignial location) and the pc works for a while. Then another file is missing or corrupted, fix it and the pc works for a while. Typically if not identified the problem gets worse until the file cannot be replaced or repaired, or the drive goes out.

DId you reformat completely? If not, you need to do so, that will clean up the problems. Within 30 seconds of being exposed to an open network and lacking the newest updates, you will have already gotten vulnerability worms unless you have a router/firewall box. Simple as that.

Turn off windows update. Possibly have it inform you when new updates are available and if they're security related and only update when there is a security issue.

Constantly updating your OS is not needed and can cause problems. I wouldn't update more than once a month - except in cases of security issues.

You should have Updates turned on, but have it download and then let you pick when and what to install. MS has some BS updates that you don't need that aren't security related. I have used this method on our home PC (Win XP SP2) for a couple of years without any issues whatsoever.

Be sure to run a virus scan and a spyware scan too ASAP--I caught a virus once that did the exact same thing to mine. Later!! Rob
