Trying to play a video, but the sound doesnt play. I've downloaded a bunch of differernt things, but noyhing works. Where can I find a codec that fixes this problem? It's a Div-X problem I believe: MPEG-1 Layer 3 (MP3) Code 85

Try restoring it to even before that. If that doesnt work try reinstalling windows media. Have you rebooted?

Thanks... I'll do that

I went back 4 days on the restoring... couldnt go back more because I just installed Microsoft Office 4 days ago. Still didnt play the music. then I started having other problems, something about a Win32 host, Microsoft gave me the update to fix it, so I hope that doesnt come out again

<_<

Actually, it all started because of this darn download righ here!
http://www.dark-moor.com/videoonline.htm

I started looking for the missing codec to play the sound in the video, and in the process of downloading and uninstalling non-working codecs I think I accidently did something

thanks A LOT guys!
Got it going again! :worship:
The weird thing is that it showed the name of my Sound Device under the hardware tab. It was there, but I had no idea how to get it working. It was even activated. I think I downloaded something that took my Sound Devices place, and when I uninstalled it it kept my sound device away
I restored my computer all the way to last month, checked to make sure the sound worked (it did). then I brought it back to 4 days ago hoping the restoring of the sound device would stick, and it did. The first time I tried restoring to four days ago, it didnt work, this time it did

Quick question: My computer has all of that reinstall stuff on my D: driver. How would I be able to reinstall my sound devices if this, or something else, needs reinstalling? Or am I screwed?

you would need to download the drivers from dell or what not. in all likelyness if its not working, it got deleted for some reason.
