Can anyone read Japanese?
I’m looking for a translation of this tag. It is attached to a WWII Japanese Type 99 Arisaka bolt action rifle. Thanks!
I might have the pic posted upside down.

Finally ended up with a translation from a Japanese woman who lives in Japan. Here’s what she said:
The writing is the right way up. The old way to read Japanese is from Right to Left. Now it’s read from left to right. So starting from the right side moving to the left. The characters are as follows; (Two Square looking Characters) is" Gun Ji" which means "Military" and the other two characters are "Hi Mitsu" pronounced (HE MITSUE) which means "Secret". So the tag on the rifle stock means "Military Secret".

That rifle is gone and I don’t have any other photos. If you go to: www.gunbroker.com and search for Arisaka 99 under bolt action rifles, you can get a pretty good idea of what those rifles look like while surfing the auctions.
