yeah give it alot of breaks and drop the clutch from 5k rpm, i find this useless as i like to take sideways corners and roll it down the street but to each his own

Here's how i do it.

On a flat service
Put it in 2nd gear (Not first)
Rev to 4000 or so
Drop the clutch
as quickly as you can, slam on the brake.

Your rear tires should keep spinning, but you'll have to work the throttle to keep the car from bogging. If it does, you will stop spinning and probably stall the car.

Dont try and slip the clutch out or you will fry it. You have to drop it quick (I.e. pop it out by slipping your foot off the side)

Check my website out in my sig for a few vids. The long one is 1min long and was all in 2nd gear on drag radials.

pretty much exactly like Scott said... but i've never tried starting in second....i always did it in first with my 99 GT. if i was doing a longer one i would power shift it into second and get back to the brakes.

Idk about him, but alot of 05-06 owners were saying if u dump it in 2nd the car will just bog to a stall, so i think he'd have to do it in 1st?

After the Autoshow last Friday, I did a brakestand in 1st gear but I let my car roll forward about 30ft. I probably could have kept it from moving if I gave it more brakes, but I was trying to keep it from using the rear brakes (heavy braking will make the rear calipers grab). These cars hook up pretty well, so you won't be spinning your tires very long if you just dump the clutch at 5k. Then again I have wider than stock tires, which will naturally try to grip faster.

Keep in mind that if you use the "brakes" method that its possible to overheat your rear pads and basically render them useless?
