I got suckered into giving blood yesterday......Seeing it drain out got me fascinated.

I have 0+ blood so everyone wants mine- but the boys have 0- blood.

So It got me curious.

Whatcha got?

Almost 40% of the population has O+ blood

Patients with Type O blood must receive Type O blood

About half of all blood ordered by hospitals is Type O

Type O blood is the universal blood type and is the only blood type that can be transfused to patients with other blood types

Only about 7% of all people have Type O negative blood

Type O negative blood is the preferred type for accident victims and babies needing exchange transfusions

There is always a need for Type O donors because their blood may be transfused to a person of any blood type in an emergency

A person with type A blood can donate blood to a person with type A or type AB. A person with type B blood can donate blood to a person with type B or type AB. A person with type AB blood can donate blood to a person with type AB only. A person with type O blood can donate to anyone.

A person with type A blood can receive blood from a person with type A or type O. A person with type B blood can receive blood from a person with type B or type O. A person with type AB blood can receive blood from anyone. A person with type O blood can receive blood from a person with type O.

O-. The thing that got me most when I gave blood was not the needle itself, but the warm sensation of the blood running through the tube that's taped to your arm....

And the cookies were gross. I hate Chocolate Chip.

In high school I donated the crap out of my blood cause I could pretend to be very sick after get to check out and jump in my car and go out to do something NOT in school.

I do find it very interesting the twin of me got my blood and the boy didn't get my blood but intrestingly we all have one form of 0 or the other.

I have B-. Pretty rare, and for obvious reasons there's not a lot of it blood banks. I remember when I was in the Marines I was asked to donate blood for a fellow leatherneck--there were only 7 of us in a regiment of almost 2000.

O+. I remember the first time I donated. After it was over I drank the juice and ate the cookies they gave me, stood up...........and passed out. They let me leave about 30 minutes later and while walking back to my dorm I passed out again.

Notta clue & I really don't want one either. Unless I can find out with a poke to the finger. I HATE needles.

However my mom & grandma & grandpa on her side all have the same type O blood (neg or pos I don't remember). So there's 1 option but I don't know what my dad is so....I guess it could still be anything.

Hey April, you forgot to mention that neg can only recieve from neg & pos can only recieve pos. At least that's what I remember from Bio 2 years ago.
