This happened at 0600 on Sunday morning at an oil refinary/depot in southern England, amazingly, no one was killed.......

All pictures come from the BBC.

Full story here : http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/4523430.stm

The London Skyline...

The M1 Motorway has been closed for days now

And something for Scott and the other fire fighters..... how they are tackling the blaze :

1) Artificial lake for mixing foam and water for tackling the fires. Much of the water has been pumped up from a nearby lake.
2) Temporary road made to get firefighting equipment in place. Water and foam pumped along chain of up to 16 fire engines.
3) Fire engines, a foam cannon and a fixed fire-fighting unit already at the depot used to pump the mixture onto the blaze.
4) Three out of 20 fuel tanks still burning on Tuesday morning. Water and foam blankets used to smother flames and "water curtains" to prevent the spread of fire between tanks.
5) Artificial reservoir to contain foam and water run-off before treatment and disposal.
6) Bund, or wall, to help stop run-off escaping.
7) Nearby water supplies monitored amid fear of contamination.

Amazing pictures, hard to believe nobody was killed.
A small miracle in the timing of the blast.

Any new info on what may have cause the blast?
The fire investigaters are going to have a hard time with this one, looks like nothing left to search.

they are ruling out terrorism, but they would do that anyway, even if they thought there was. Interestingly though, there were eye witness reports of a small plane........ rumours I suspect, the press need to have something to sensationalise after all..

They have since revised their plan....

8) Have Superman freeze nearby lake. Lift forzen part and drop over top of fire.

Option 8 is great. Only Chris would come up with an idea like that! See you at Christmas, Chris! (Add NO, we can't drive the Bullitt in the snow!)

well, the fire is out now, the fire crews worked 24 hours a day to extinguish it. There is just a scene of total devastation now. As one reporter puts it, the area now looks like a WW1 battle field.

thats a great attack plan for a hazmat incident of that magnitude.

#8 is great, but make sure that lake was from somewhere else, since the FD used the close one for water supply.

But the FD wouldn't need to the close one if Superman put it out.

Just think of it as a good faith gesture. Makes the FD still feel important.

or better yet, if superman can freeze a lake, why not have him freeze any watervapor in the air and heck, why not just the entire area that caught ablaze?

im sure he could cool it down to the point that the fire would be engulfed by cold :P
of course, the FD can still spray the water if they want. and since superman is making it all cold in the vicinity of the fire, the water they spray would freeze! this piling more ICE on top of the fire, and they could still be using the water from that nearby lake since superman wont even be bringin the frozen lake at all. rather, the hoses of the firemen will bring the lake and superman will freeze it when it gets there, in addition to freezing everything thats getting to hot!

it wokrs even better now!!!

there is only one flaw.... superman doesnt like the commute, so he might not show up on time

I'm sure Dustin can confirm this!
