NBC has pedal to the metal with "Top Gear" remake

 

It could be interesting if it is done right with the right hosts. The hosts make all the difference on a show like that.

 

I'd try out to be a host, wonder where the auditions are being held?

 

F*#k. If that show ends up sucking, they're going to destroy the credibility of the original. A show like that can't survive over here, as sad as it is to say. They get away with a lot over there, which is part of what makes it so great. Plus they have a great selection of cars to choose from, whereas American cars mostly are, as they would say, "rubbish". And i don't think they can get the right hosts. I've got a lot to say on it, and none are favorable of what our pathetic excuse for TV media could do with it.

 

Put Jay Leno on it, focus more on unique cars,and car-related trends (example: go out on the street, look for riced out cars and interview their owners for laughs, kind of like how Leno goes out on the street and asks people questions about current events to see what they'll say.) , less on road testing/reviewing new cars and it might work.

 

Now there's a Good idea I'll second that !

 

If they did this show i think Leno would be my first choice of one of the hosts.

 

'Cept they'll never get Leno because of his Tonight Show commitment - not to mention the salary he commands; $30M a year, or something like that, I believe.

 

If NBC has anything ot do with it it will be bad!!!!!!

 

didn't they already film a pilot for the last go around..I seem to remeber it having some drag dudfe and one guy from a reality series on it.. they had a pic of them around a tv sitting on a couch i beleive.

Jay Leno will be out of his contract pretty soon with Conan replacing him. I don't remember when exactly though. He would be an awesome host. I wonder if he would do the show for less $$ just because it is cool and he would enjoy doing it?

 

Mabey Jay Leno would consider it for the enjoyment he would get out of it. Think about it, he would love it.

 

Discovery filmed an American Top Gear pilot, you're right, but never aired it cause they realized it was crap.

 

That's almost three years from now. Doesn't help NBC for the coming season.

 

Yeah, but then you need two other guys - and the chemistry has to work.

If you use Leno by himself, then it's basically a whole different show.

I would love to see Jay have Clarkson, Hammond and May on the Tonight Show sometime. Or alternatively, put Jay in a reasonably priced car and send him 'round Gambon, Chicago and Hammerhead.

Either would be fun.

 

Stacy David should be one of the hosts.
