Its worth the hype IMO... great story line... hits on all 'your' cylinders... great 3D!

But I love fresh & original sci-fi.

(this was fairly original although you can see some parallels to prev movies in a couple of ways, but then again you can see certain similarities for many movies - and most music. but it was put together in a very original story line IMO Loved it!)

They said it would change the way we watch movies. I know I'll love the cinematography and the effects, but I was most concerned about story line letting me down.

(Me? Hell yes!)

and you could name a few more but

a) don't!

b) he's been writing it over 15 years...

he told HIS story, HIS way, with HIS collection of themes, blended in HIS way... with flies almost hitting your face in the forest scenes! LOL

Meh I say MEH!
And it's hardly an original idea much less HIS idea or Themes..but i wont get into splitting hairs about that.
I just think James cameron is a self centered egomaniac that makes sub par films right up there with the current incarnation of Goerge Lucas and yes those are my opinions. I think he should have stopped after T1.
Will this film make a zillion bucks yup..will it be a special effect extravaganza yup.. will it do for movies what cameron claims. Not in a million years.

But I'm glad you guys are enjoying it. I guess someone has to

Oh and for the record I hated Dances with wolves too

All I got from the trailer having not seen the movie is that the white
man (humans) and their evil capitalist corporations are willing to kill a civilization to obtain something of value from the planet's resources. That's from the trailers mind you, but if so them yes it's been done to death.

That's why I don't think I'll care to see it.

Western civilization and capitalism is the root of all evil in the world, and apparently the universe too.

Did we destroy our planet too and need to live on theirs?

That's not really in your face - at least I didn't think so. You could say the same for the gunho boys in green. Besides, what's new right? Its the other world and the connection to it and its animals (and on some level, humans already have that connection with the earth & animals - just in a terrestrial sort of way.), and most definitely the visual. IMO

I find it funny the few online comparisons to Dances. They obviously don't remember very clear... while a newcomer to a tribe was accepted and all the story line you want to make up with that, in D, Dunbar hooked up with someone his own race - and wasn't under cover. And there's a more recent connection if you want to make it.

But who cares??? Its entertainment... its NEW entertainment. Just like Star Wars leapt over Star Trek - both imagination wise (although same good v evil), and visual wise.

There are allot of parallels you can make but it isnt Dancing with wolves.
I wont itemize out why because I dont want to spoil the movie.

If you dont want to see it then dont. Why are you in this thread?

I liked it and Im sure others will too...not to put my money into Cameron's pocket
but because it was a visual masterpiece and it was fun and I enjoyed it.

Like I said....all I could think to say when it was over was OH MY GOD.

Oh....and I didnt like Dances with Wolves either. So dont knock it till you see it.
