Arctic Ice the Size of Florida Melts in the Past Week

An area of Arctic sea ice the size of Florida has melted away in just the last six days as melting at the top of the planet continues at a record rate.

Full story
I'm sure global warming has nothing to do with it, though. After all, it's just a myth.

Polar specialists know well that the Arctic climate is highly variable and very sensitive to small changes in local temperature. As Dr. Syun-Ichi Akasofu of the Alaska Arctic Research Center in Alaska noted, the extent of Arctic sea ice melt in the 1920s was greater than today (with far less contribution from human-produced carbon dioxide), and was followed by a period of thickening.

If it was shaped like Italy I'd be more impressed . . .

Well, with the drought that we are having here in the south, I think that we could use some more water. Maybe now I can wash my car at my house instead of at the car wash. That much water should end the outdoor watering ban.

Look on the bright side. Trans Arctic shipping will finally be possible, making the NorthWest sea passage a reality. No more dependence on the Panama Canal. Yea!

That's because all of Panama will be under water.

Could be could for Canada, I guess, since the Northwest Passage is ours.

They said that the melting of that does not raise sea level. so Panama will be fine.

Well, given that our standard of living is higher than yours, our deficit lower, and our national debt also lower, I guess that means you're living in a 4th world country.

As if that isn't enough, Vancouver has been ranked the best place to live in the world for the fifth year in a row in a survey by the Economist magazine. And of the top ten cities in the world in which to live, Canada had two - Vancouver and Toronto - while the US had none.

MOOSE POWER!

What does every Canadian say to foreigners when someone mentions Shania Twain, Michael J. Fox, Pamela Anderson, Peter Jennings etc.?

"You know he's/she's Canadian eh!"

They can't help it. It's like a reflex.

Canadians aren't sure what they are but they are definitely sure of what the aren't. They are very proud (patriotic even) that they are not Americans.

Those tend to be the ex-pat Americans who used to live in the States but decided to move to Canada.
