But I have a friend in Serbia who works for Vrele Gume magazine which is basically Serbian version of Car and Driver or Motor Trend. He's really into American cars and he knows where pretty much every American car in Serbia is located.

Out of all majors that my college offered, business was #1 in salary. Business was ranked even higher than engineering.
$44,000 starting salary.
I really hope they're right since I'll start looking for a job as soon as I return from Europe. I have a big college loan to repay.

Yeah, I know what you're saying.
My mom is currently going to college for a nurse. She was a nurse back in Serbia, but her diploma is not accepted in the USA.
She has one more year to go and she's going through really tough time. She's working a full time and she's also taking 2 classes per semester. She usually leaved the house around 7 am and doesn't return until 8 pm.

Yeah, last of couple years were really hard for her.
When we return from Europe and I start working she will probably quit her job in order to focus only on school. If she's a full time in school she would be done in 2 semesters.
But then again my dad's business to horrible right now because of high gas prices (he's a truck driver) and it doesn't look like it will improve.

That sucks man, I never really understood the whole immigrant treatment in north america. With a little acclimatization to the methods used over here im sure most people would fit very quickly into the jobs they were doing in their home countries, but instead they usually have to start right over... and the whole time people complain about things like a lack of healthcare workers...

Education system works differently in Serbia.
In Serbia you would pick your major after 8th grade and by the time you graduate 12th grade - you would have a degree.
But in the USA that is only recognized as a high school diploma.

True. But imagine if it worked that way here. I've always thought that we should model our education system more like Germany's per say. At a certain age say after 8th grade those who wish to take a professional path go to high school and then college, but those who wish to take a more technical path go to a trade school and use those very important 4 years to garner trade knowledge. We desperately need trades and craftsman. Imagine if everyone had good jobs and didn't have to flop burgers because they weren't into their high school classes.

US schools are too easy. Majority of stuff I've "learned" here in highschool I already knew because I've learned them in 6th, 7th and 8th grade in Serbia.
In 8th grade in Serbia I had 17 different subjects. Math, Serbian, two foreign languages, physics, chemistry, geography, biology, history, art, gym, ... In 12th grade in the USA I had only 6 different subjects. It was just waaaaay to easy.

There room on that boat for another?
I've switched from journalism, to marketing (for a week), to accounting, and then finally finance. I think I finally found my calling though. Love it.
I can't say that didn't help in my decision process.

I hope there's room for one more...
I finished up my freshman year a couple weeks ago. I started at North Carolina State University in Mechanical Engineering, but couldnt stand all the calculus, so I transferred to Francis Marion University here in Florence. It's small, but I absolutely love it! Can't say that the money didnt affect my choice either, double major: accounting and business management. I've been told that accountants were being recruited early in senior year to start jobs here, smaller city, at 65k per year.
