It may be awhile before we here anything from those folks in the affected areas.
Just hope they are safe, and when power returns we hear something.

I'm also concerned, but I think that it could be more of an electricity thing (or I hope) - power is still out in so much of that area, making it impossible to log on of course.

i'll say a little prayer for everyone down there. CNN is a scary thing right now...

I am not sure exactly where he is located????

I just hope Ian, his family, and his PONY are all okay.......

And I have been watching this situation all week - I have a buddy I've known for 17 years who is STILL trapped in downtown New Orleans with 6 friends and trying to get OUT and they can't.... they are shacked up secure in a place but I am still worried as all ^#@%@^%

It's a nightmare there and I just want my buddy out and SAFE........

My sisters in laws just got back here in town (Missouri) from New Orleans.

They were stuck on the 5th floor of their hotel for 2 days, and then sent to the convention center. They walked to a gas station and being desperate yelled they had $400 bucks for anyone who can get them out of here. Some lady asked where they were headed and he said Anywhere you are going.

So they jumped in this lady's minivan, went to Mississippi and from there walked to get a rental car, then drove back to Missouri.

They said they walked over dead bodies at the convention center, It was like a 3rd world country over there. No one handing out food, water, nothing!!!

I pray for everyone!!!

I work with a lot of people in that area and we have not heard from them. I just hope everyone is okay. Everyday I watch the news and things seem to be getting worse all the time. Now guys, please don't flame me for moving this topic. I am only moving it because there are several other topics regarding this terrible disaster that has happened. I am sure we will get more people replying to this along with the other open topics.

My thoughts and prayers are with everyone that has been affected by this nightmare.

They are lucky someone didn;t shoot them and just take the $400. Glad they made it out.

Thats exactly what came to my mind when watching the news these days. Its like War of the Worlds: something happens that affects ALL humans (at least in the hurricane area for us) and then some TRY to actually keep things calm. Others go crazy, and some are just idiots and are really stupid, like the people who SHOOT at ambulances and hospitals. W00hoo America.

Finally getting a chance to check in. Thanks to all who were thinking about me, and the rest of us down here. I'm currently in Baton Rouge... I had to evacuate the wife, the dogs and the Mustang last Sunday. Traffic was so bad getting out that it took us 8 hours to drive what nornally would have taken about 45 minutes. Baton Rouge got hit pretty hard, and we were without electricity for a couple days. But, I am safe... and so is the Mustang for all who were worried. Not a scratch.

I was able to get back to see my house on Thursday. The house has no damage, but I have some fence to repair, trees to cut up and dispose of, and the carport roof to fix. A branch from a pine tree actually shot through the roof like a missile. It looks like I'll be stuck here in Baton Rouge for another week or two when they get the elctricity back on.

My brother, who is only 18, is still in the city of New Orleans. We haven't heard from him since Tuesday... right before the levees broke and flooded the city really bad. But, this whole situation down here is insane. I have been able to use a phone here and there... and what people I talk to say is being shown on the national news is only half as bad as what we see here on the local news.

The internet, like the phone, works sporadically... so not sure when I'll be able to get back on. But I appreciate everyone's concern.

Yes man, glad to see you back on the air (I replied to your PM)!!!

I am sure you will hear from your brother soon - this past week has been NUTS regarding my buddy - getting second hand info relayed by email from his Mom and sister - and them only being able to get word sproadically from him through bad phone connections..... but he made it OUT FINALLY and is in Texas - just give it a little more time and KEEP US POSTED - things are a bit more settled down since the Nat Guard rolled in in force - you've got a lot of folks here praying and hoping for you both.

Glad that you are safe, and I will also be praying for your brother. There are some sites set up to help assist those looking for loved ones that are missing. I wish I had the links... I just heard about them on the radio.

You can prob do asearch for it. Good luck and hope you get in touch with him soon.
