I used to, not anymore.

It is difficult to enjoy Hollywood with its political agenda, the obsession with race, the hidden messages, and the neverending pursuit of liberal indoctrination.

I won't watch it. I used to also be a fan of movies but the leftist liberal commie pinko crap is just enough already. I'm tired of wtaching their preaching. I'm tired of their hidden agendas. It's just old already. If there's a group of people put there that can mentally detach during the movie and tune out all the social, political, and moral/anti-moral crap than I'm jealous of you. Because I see it in everything. It's kind of like saying MSNBC is objective and fair. It's Hollywood. For some reason teh 'artistic' type person tends to be more liberal than the average every dsay working Joe. And for some reason they feel it necessary to enlighten us.

I probably sound like a nut job and thats fine I don't care what anyone thinks. Unlike the 'actors' tonight who will be reveling in their red carpet glory and prizes. It's amazing how so many socialists and Marxists can crave affirmation and wealth so much while their political views, which they wear on their sleeve, would seek to deprive us of our liberty and our own wealth.



I've said all I'm gonna say on it. And I still haven't seen Avatar and I never will. Western civilization and this Republic are to be revered and respected. The American soldier is not the pawn of evil coporations and imperialistic policies. We don't occupy, we liberate. I'm not suggesting anyone tell anybody what kind of movie to make or watch. It's a free country. But its free enough for me to not go to the movies, and not support this crap. Only then, if we are still a free-market capitalist society, will someone make movies that I want to see.

However it was a record year at the box office, and everyone seems to be happy. So enjoy it everyone. Apparently America shares more views with Hollywood than it does with Main St.

 

I am not, nor would I claim every movie coming out of Hollywood fits my observations, that would be absurd, but enough of them do. Add all the movie stars, directors, and producers who try to influence us little people while they live like kings excempted from what the average normal people have to deal with and their hypocrisy is a bit too much to stomach.

I look back at simpler times when the art of making movies and pursuit of creating a classics were the primary goal or emphasis and wonder what the hell happened.

 

I like a wide range of movies new and old, and am firm enough in my important convictions to not be bothered by any propoganda - be it obvious or subtle. I watch movies for entertainment, escape and distraction. I mean I won't go see a gay flick or a gay marriage flick or an atheist flick or a michael moore/algore/obama flick... but if some of that gets a minor plug in the story I can blot it out. Hell you can't watch/read the news or watch TV without getting some of that filthy sewage on you.

But I've never been much of a fan of award ceremonies - movies or music. It grates on my nerves that these 'actors' can't pull of a decent, short acceptance speech without the benefit of scripts and several retakes they have back at the studio. LOL

Being a sci-fi freak I loved Avatar and didn't 'see' any of the stuff some are bothered by. Went right over my head because I was into the story and the eye candy and if I hadn't read some of the critiques, I wouldn't have known there was any 'stuff' there (allegedly). Even Cameron said on Leno he wasn't preaching. I mean there's a good guy and a bad guy, and its off in a place and time that doesn't even exist. Why would I let small minded directors wreck the orgasm within my imagination? Avatar was groundbreaking like Star Wars, Matrix, Alien, etc. Heck I loved Babylon 5 from beginning to end and that was filled with the politics of the universe... LOL

And awesome that Trek got one! It's makeup, in a three way race, but still. Trek's first one. I couldn't be more happy about that.

/now, on to gettin' a Win for Best Picture... yeah right.

I can't even stand watching most movies from today. They've (not all, but still quite a bit) completely lost their ability to take you to another place and are just overflowing with trash. Now I'm stuck having to watch avatar (oh how I pray it isn't released until summer) for one of my classes this semester. So glad the movies from the 30s and 40s are still around. Those are the ones I can actually enjoy.

 

I love that movie. I thought it was a really good movie. It kinda shows how real life out here really is.

 

I'll refrain from the 30s-40s film critiques... but let's leave it at "many are as underwhelming as today's films" and move on.

Regarding mandatory Avatar watching for class... *seriously?* Unless it's for film study regarding post production techniques... there is nothing 'school worthy' regarding that film. And I actually liked it overall. But I liked Star Wars Episodes I through III and the same could be said of them: Not school worthy except for production techniques, maybe.

You gotta 'splain that one more...

 

Award shows suck. I watched Food Network instead.

 

And just so you know, to a politically-indifferent person like myself, reading all of the *****y posts above are just as bad as hearing it from the mouth of some Hollywood leftist liberal commie pinko.

 

Didn't watch them as awards always bore me and I had to study for History class.

 

 

The red carpet interviews so totally fail , where ever a party was there were two commentaters that never shut the f up that's when I went to bed

 

I will say this. I think that the actor that played the German SS officer in Inglorious Basterds won for best supporting actor.

I knew as I was watching the film that he would win it. He was truly masterful as a ****. I didn't see many movies this year, but I did see that one at home and enjoyed it. And that actor fully deserved that Oscar in my opinion. An incredibly written part that he lived up to completely.

I truly believed the character to be 100% **** evil and yet an opportunistic SOB.

Well done Christoph Waltz. I applaud you.

 

His speach sure didn't fit his profile and I keep thinking as he swung his head around often that maybe he was looking for a bat coming at him from the man bear .
