did anyone just see this happen? like hours ago i think. guy was luging (if thats a word) during a practice run at 90mph, came to a dangerous turn and flipped out of his luge thing and hit a pole....that was 90-0mph in less than a second. unfortunately they just confirmed the guy has died. they still plan to have the olympics to go on though.

 

Yes we were talking about it in MCTC earlier. Even had a video of the accident on here.

 

The Olympics couldn't be stopped, short of a huge disaster. Not that I'm belittling the event, it's tragic and horrible, to be sure. But it could have been any athlete, in any other sport, and they'd have done the same thing: go on. The thought is that Nodar would have wanted them to carry on, and so they did, as respectfully as possible. I think they did good with the opening ceremony, considering, in paying tribute to him, and promising to do their best to carry on his desire: compete on the world stage.

I know that I would want that if I were to have been in his place. Go on with the games. I'd be watchin' from above, wonderin' who will win that Luge, cheerin' them all on.
