Z06 with INSANE MARKUP!!!

While attending a car show with my Mustang (and my buddies from the BMC) this past Sunday at Classic Chevrolet, in Moorestown NJ, I stumbled upon something VERY interesting. While getting my registration for the show, the guy taking my info told me that the car you see below, is a Ron Fellows Edition Corvette Z06. I have heard about this car, but haven't seen one yet. No real difference, except for a few small things. All are white, with red interior, and are signed. Difference spoiler, and some trim inside. Same engine.

It was a nice looking car, but I changed my tune after seeing the window sticker!! MSRP is just under $80,000, BUT, BUT the Additional Dealer Markup, are you ready for this BS..........$50,000!!!!WTF!!!! $130,000 for a Vette?!!! For a little more, you can get a Ford GT, which IMO looks better!! What are they smoking!!? I know they only make 399 of them, but my friend was there with is Parnelli Jones Car, and they only made 500, and he got it for under list!! Just wanted to show you its not just Ford dealers who are like this. This ADM really took the cake for me! Total BS!!!

$80,000 for a Chevy is already pushing way beyond acceptability IMO, but then they almost DOUBLE the price!??

Give me a break. They're asking about as much as some of the most storied Corvettes go for on Barrett Jackson. Once again, you have to have more money than brains. The car is nothing special. At least a Shelby is a Shelby or a Hennisey is a Hennisey. This thing is a Chevy, period.

PT Cruisers when they first came out were getting some pretty large dealer markups as well... Now, they've got dealer incentives...

Have you seen the markups on Ford GT's - a heritage edition (gulf colors) with ADM goes for only - you sitting down? - $280K! looks like you gotta give both your left and right n*ts. But yeah, that's still crazy.

Actually its a Fellows. And is signed and numbered but it is still nuts to pay that much for a Z06 with nothing special but a paint scheme .

how about a double post flame instead of the whole famous racer flame. lol

coolest thing was seeing fellows drive a vette at sebring this year. the whole weekend it was the normal paint, but on race day they put different panels on the car and made it the special edition paint job. i agree the ADM is nuts, but what is worse is someone will most likely pay it.

Worst yet is more than likely 399 people will pay it. out of those I bet half turn around and try to sell it for more.

Don't know about Hawaii, (but I've heard the dealers out there are STUPID with their Ford GT's), but around my area, you can get a Heritage GT for MSRP! Just wanted to let you know.

Stupid, but people still buy 'em, so who's stupider? - except for the $280K heritage. MSRP would be very nice - c'mon lucky Lotto ticket!!! Oh yeah, we don't have that here. =(

Kevin, your in the business, I'm in the business. Just because your in the business, doesn't mean you have to turn a blind eye to this. $50,000 over is just a tad bit excessive, don't you think? Personally, its being f****** greedy. And I'm sure I'm not the only person on this board that believes that. And this is coming from a Ford salesman.

Yea but the newspapers, ebay, sales ads, and window stickers on lots are just a list of unsold vehicles.

I'd glady lose both of my family jewels for a Ford GT heritage edition.

Provided I can work for money to buy them back from whoever is in possesion of them.

the 1992 Viper sold for big premiums. Now you can get for for a third of the original MSRP.
The Ford GT sold for a premium to MSRP. You can now buy them for less than MSRP.
C5 Z06s sold for premiums to MSRP. You now pay half of MSRP (for low mile nice cars).
C6 Z06s sold for premiums to MSRP. Now you can get a discount.

The Ron Fellows Z06 will do the same thing.

Any car sold for that much over MSRP is an act of greed. On any new car I buy, I refuse to pay more than MSRP. For a SE though, I wouldn't pay over 3k above MSRP.

The dealers (not that I'm defending them) are just selling these vehicles for what folks are willing to pay for them. I'd love to have the opportunity to buy a new GT500 at MSRP. I'd sell my Vette to do that...but I'm not paying over MSRP for any of them...Shelby, Z06...Parnelli Jones...none of them. I don't need it that bad.

Nobody complains of margin when they buy a set of Air Jordans made in Malaysia.

Kevin, I can add insight to that comment you made. I have a LARGE collection of sneakers. It was my hobby before I got my car. I probably have over 100+ pairs of sneaks. Mostly Air Jordan's, some retro Nikes, with most in deadstock condition (and some in very near deadstock). I've paid $200 for a very limited edition pair (and I can sell them for 3 times what I paid, so really these are a bit of an investment, believe it or not). But I won't go to the local Foot Action or Foot Locker. I go to the local "Mom and Pop" place that actually sell them early (if Footlocker does this, and Nike finds out, they WILL lose new product that are due in. Never sell before release date, unless your a small single store), and discounts them. Thats where I go. I don't pay full retail for them.

Now that said, I am pretty much retired from the sneaker game (a few pairs here and there namely Jordan XX3's next year, to keep my string of 1 pair of each Jordan made going). My shoe money is now my Mustang money. Its good to know though, that if I need cash in the future, I can sell these on ebay and make over 4-figures EASY on some of the pairs I have. But your right, the prices of all shoes not made here (new balance are still made here) compared to their retail value is shocking. But when was the last time you could go into a store and negotiate the price of a pair of Nike's anyhow. Only cars you can do that with on a daily basis.
