You're going to have to learn German.

I think the Italian police have a Ferrari or two.

In 1981, I learned pursuit driving in one of these...
[attachmentid=40770]

Only our units were either rootbeer brown or the newer ones were dark blue.

I drove one beast over 120 mph in a chase.
The alignment was so bad, the steering wheel was shaking up and down about 4 inches, but we eventually caught the bad guys.

Hard to out run radios in the flat lands of eastern Kansas.
The next department over set up a roadblock on the interstate.

ROFLMAO!!! I learned pursuit driving in one just like that except that it WAS the rootbeer brown one! I did mine back in 1989. I remember the instructor had the E-brake release held open with a clothespin. That way when they wet down the skid pad he could make us slam the e-brake and let it go real quick to get the rearend loose and into a slide! Thank God that the department I hired on with had Crown Vics. My last patrol car was a 99 Crown Vic. I had it up to 120'ish on more than one chase and it handled as good at that speed as it did at 65.

I drove one of these for 5 years. It was nothing to get it over 130 mph 4-5 times a day. The most I got out of it was 152 mph (by Radar). I put 148,000+ miles on it and they only had to replace 1 waterpump, 1 fuel pump and the clutch (at 98,990 miles), got to love 5.0's!!

I've gotten to 125+ a time or 2. Didn't help chasing a BMW Z3 M series tho!

I never thought any other department ever used rootbrown cruisers.
Our slick unit (decals, but no roof bar--lights in grill and rear deck) was real fun, nobody ever thought it was a police car.
We only had one so I didn't get to use it often.

We did have one 440 wedge equiped Polara, that was being retired just as I finished training. I never got a chance to drive it.

My FTO said it was the best pursuit car they ever had.
He claimed it once chased down a 911 on the interstate and that it had a top end over 150mph.

I had enough "fun" doing 125 in evening rush hour traffic on I-35.

In the south of Switzerland, I know for sure (I am from there) as I saw them in action multiple times (not against me...), for highway high speed chases they have a couple of BMW M3's...They used to have Saab Turbo's from the mid 80s until the end of the century, then switched to Bimmers...

Man, I would write as many tickets as they wanted if I could drive one of those everyday! That thing is sweet! I once had a '97 or '98 Crown Vic up to 140mph by speedo(didn't have radar in patrol units back then) to catch what turned out to be an 18yr old in a Z28 at about 3am. He blew my doors off as I was merging on the freeway. I didn't start reeling him him until I hit 125 or 130. That was fun but, kinda scary too!
