Only 10!? Most in the list are not considered "muscle cars" - more like favorite (classic) American cars. Personal favorites in no particular order:

1965 Shelby GT350
1967/68 Shelby GT500
1969 Boss 302
1969 Camaro Z28
1986/87 Buick T-Type/Grand National/GNX
1970 Buick GSX/Stage 1
1967 El Camino SS396
1966 Shelby 427 Cobra
1987-93 Ford 5.0 Mustang (I admit I'm biased!)
1970 Cuda 340 (AAR)

Ok guys, by old Muscle Cars I meant cars built between 1964 and 1973. Apparently I'm not the only one who thinks the Shelby 427 Cobra was a Muscle Car.

Red Baron, Sorry to disagree with ya, but historically the 49/50 Olds is considered the first musclecar by many.

Some say '49 Oldsmobile, some say '55 C-300, others say '64 GTO ...

In my 51 years of life on this earth I have never even heard this. Why don't we just go back to 1932 when Ford introduced the V8.

According to the book, Muscle Car Greats by Peter C. Sessler and publishers of MuscleCars Magazine the Muscle Car Era began with the '64 GTO.

Well for starters, I actually do like the way the car looks, but really, what gets me, is how it one of the first cars to epitomize what a muscle car was. Not so big car, rather large engine. Didn't need to be glitz, just fast. It's simple. The later goats were bigger, badder, cooler looking and faster

but the plain jain '64 goat was a pretty awesome car in its own right

I liked the over/under headlights on my 65 Goat. Maintained the 64 stance, but the more popular was the new style in 66. But I loved the power of that sixpac

This may be a tad embelished, but how I remember her:

Red Star and Red Baron, as I said in my post "by many." I am partial to the 49 olds, because my dad had one. It was the first modern v-8 to be fitted into a mid size car. Sound familiar GTO fans? Red Star has a point with the first ford flat head. Though these were "hot rodded", not necessarily a factory hot rod or muscle car. Thats the great thing, we each can have our own opinion. By the way, I'm 49 years old and I've never heard of Sessler. LOL
