What is Your Favorite Decade of Cars & Post Pics of Your Favorites!

So, what is yours favorite decade of cars?

Mine would have to 1950s, mid to late in particular.

I especially like vehicles built by Chrysler Corporation during that time.

Gotta go with the 60's.

The C2 Vettes were gorgeous and even the C3 shark nose made its appearance by the time the decade was over.

Of course the Mustang. The best of which was the 69. And the Cougar. And the T-Bird.

And Mopar!

Nothing beats the 60s cars.

Even the Italian cars were the best they've ever looked.

I also love 1930s cars.

This Lincoln Model K is a masterpiece IMO.

Lincoln Zephyr was also a beautiful car.

I mean it does exude automotive excellence, but I'm not sure. I really need to think about what developments in automotive history mean the most to me. I'm not even entirely sure what that is yet

I gotta admit. It was a good lookin car. Love the color. But a not high enough on my list of must have Mustangs to replace any of my big 4.

Wouldn't mind a 69 or 70 stang someday. Hopefully before they become ridiculously priced.

Too me it'd be a tie between the 1960-1969 and 2000-2009.

early 2000's we proved we can have our cake and eat it too. There were a few exceptions in the 80's and then a bunch in the 90's that could be fast like the 60's cars.

But cars didn't seem to get the full treatment of engine, brakes, suspension until the 2000's decade. Building cars that were better in every way than the ones before them.

Also 2000-2009 cars at least in the beginning weren't over bloated with weight as we see today and cost of cars wasn't as outrageous as today.

Also side note there were incredible cars mixed in other decades that were amazing but can't give a whole decade credit because of them. Notables off the top of my head. Buick GNX, McLaren F1 and prob my non Mustang favorite of all time the Ferrari F40.

+1 , my side note would be different but I'm too lazy to type.

While not a decade, I loved the cars from 65 to 72, great muscle cars and neat four doors , think LTD's and Impala's, what an era and some really neat cars.

Hmmm.... The new millenium, so much awesome machinery.

The next closest would be a "tweener" decade from about 85-95, then 65-75 would be around then next "tweener" prior to the 60's I dont have much interest unlike my youngest brother who loves stuff from the 30's to 40's

I love the pictures of those 50's cars but I can find wonderful cars to own from every decade, even the 70's and 80's which are sometimes frowned upon.
This Bricklin from the 70's that we owned was really a fun car to drive with that Ford 351 -W providing the power. We also enjoy our 80's Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe which gets lots of attention. We still own it but the Bricklin was sold around 1999 or so. The 90's brought us Vipers and there have always been cars that we felt comfortable owning every decade. Let's hope it continues.

my 80 year old step dad always comments about chrysler designs of the 50's.

i think that for american muscle, now's probably the best decade. i'd be interested to hear from people who were 16+ in the 60's/70's as to what they think of the current crop. 300's, chargers, challengers, camaros and mustangs.

if i were a younger person i'd think twice about what i wanted for $25k - an asian import or v6 muscle.

to me, replacing an '03 wrx, it seemed like a no brainer to go with one of the big 3 v6 cars. you get a lot for your money in a decent sized extremely well rounded package with outstanding eye-candy factor.

as it turned out i ended up getting the GT. i honestly think the v6 would have been great and financially would have been more responsible. but since i made the impulse decision i might as well live it

As someone who grew up with those late 60's and early 70's cars and actually drove a brand spankin' new 1970 challenger 440-6pak back in the day, I don't understand why so many guys love the old iron and pooh-pooh the new crop of pony/muscle cars. The new cars are quicker, faster, more reliable, safer, and get great gas mileage. Do they not know that? So why are people willing to pay triple the price for an old Mustang when the new one is better than any other stang ever made back then? The past value of the old muscle cars was almost entirely because they were so powerful compared to what we could buy presently. That's no longer true but people act like it is.

well, cars are such a personal experience i think everyone has their own unique attachments to them. for example i'd take a late 80's countach over anything since then except the aventador. i never liked the original ferrari gto but loved the 288 gto. tv and movies probably have a lot to do with also. i love the bandit's trans-am, the magnum 308's. but the 360 modena? i'll pass. oh, and the 1977 datsun 260z was the first car i ever did actual work on so i'd love one of those. i also remember the first time i saw a gt40 in a book and have always loved that! in that case, you put the story of how shelby took on the euro cars and handed them their a$$es on their turf, well you gotta love it even more.

but like i said i'd argue that today's muscle are going to also be ones that we look back on and have an irrational love for.
