Saw it at the autoshow. It doesn't look that huge in person. I'm wondering how it compares to a 'vette. Still a little too 'conceptish' for me... not that I'm particularly fond of Fast/Furious style cars anyways.

 

i like the look of the GT-R but not in white.....

 

White has to be one of THE worst colors for the GTR - it really sets off the "big mouth" look in the front in the comparison pics.

I agree. The grill opening is hideous with white. Looks like a catfish.!

 

The NSX wins things in the looks contest. The GT-R looks like it will very soon be dated while the NSX looks as modern as ever.

 

its a bit unfair to compare size with a NSX because they are extremely small cars.

No doubt the GTR is very large though, i'd like to see it next to a R34.

 

I don't think that the GTR is all that huge (about the same size as an S197); it's that the NSX is small & short (46 inches tall).

It's like comparing Tom Cruise with Verne Troyer. Yeah, that Tom is a giant of a man!

 

+1. I never realized that the back of that thing looks more like a cobalt than previous GTRs... maybe its just me. Yuck.

Unfortunately, I think a lot of today's car's are reflecting to some degree or another the GTR's tall, high sided and somewhat chunky looks. While tall, high sided and chunky might be an apt stylistic theme for, say, panel vans and SUVs, I think it is the antithesis of the look a performance street car ought to portray - sleek, trim, light and low - a look the NSX does connote.

Yeah, that's the damning one. The R34 wasn't exactly compact, and the new one has some serious size on it. I have no beef with the R35's drive train, but I have serious issues about the size and styling decisions Nissin made with the rest of the car.

Theres more to it than the total dimensions, for example i could create a big high-sided, rectangular vehicle that would have the same dimensions as a mustang, but it would be a lot bigger, chunkier, and heavier because it would fill up those dimensions to a greater extent.

Fortunately i dont need to build a car like that cause nissan already proved the point.

 

The GT-R R35 looks like its about to eat the R34!!!!
