http://cars.ign.com/articles/728/728405p1.html
hope VW makes it and brings it over.
We can't have enough hot hatches imo

The originals have always catched my eye

the front is a rip-off of Mitsubishi X concept, the interior is a rip-off of Camaro concept. The only hot-hatch NA needs is called ASTRA GTC.
It would be idiotic to choose a Scirocco in place of a Mustang. But personally I would take this quite ugly Scirocco over any Japanese hatch so this car may make sense.

The front does look a bit like the Mitsu X's, but it looks way better.
And the interior does have a lot of similarities with the camaro concept, but thats not a bad thing.

anyways, if it does go into production, we know the front end and the interior will be toned down.

I dont think choosing a hot hatch over a Mustang is a stupid decision. They have more space, work better as people movers, most cost less than a mustang GT, but go faster than the V6 mustang

oh btw, that Astra GTC... isn't it basically a Vauxhall Vectra? It looks just like it. If the Astra has the same horrific handling as the Vectra... no thanks, Europe can keep it lol
But if it has better handling... bring it over!

for ONCE i would love to see a company to stick with the concept all the way through production. the first company to do that could swim in the money. i always see the coolest concepts and then the real thing is 1/10th the car it should have been.

Very True!!!

almost forgot... the challenger is to be exactly like the concept (dont know about the interior though)
DCX is known to make production cars really similar to its concepts

When this gets sold here, how is VW going to get away with calling this the IROC? Doesn't GM (Chevy) have a copyright on this name back on the 80's Camaro?

God forbid they call it the IROC... If they sell it over here, or anywhere for that matter, it will most certainly be called the Scirocco

VW's next coupe will be a scirroco. that car is pretty sweet looking. I wouldnt choose it OVER a mustang, i would choose it along side the mustang.

I'm thinking the Scirocco will be a performace car, so it wont be a car that will go along side a Mustang real well, because it's gonna fight for you attention.
VW already has the Rabbit/GTi and the Jetta/GLi to take care of the small coupe/sedan market... now they need to up it one step with a real good performing car.

i meant for me to buy one. I want to have another vw. just not sure which one. i like this new car especially with the tsi engine.

and even though it might have power and a tight suspension, it'll still be a fwd based car even if there is an awd option it just doesnt go by them same measuring stick in my book.

Astra is Astra,Vectra is Vectra
Astra is blast to drive,I compared it to Civic,Golf, new Focus (Mazda 3 in NA) and it won without a doubt.

Don't think so, but not sure . . . remember there was a Dodge IROC Daytona back in the early 90's after the Camaro IROC-Z went the way of the Fiero.
