VIDEO: Camaro running the 'Ring

Wow, watch this video.

It goes around the track like a lop-sided pack mule!

I thought the new Camaro was going to be more impressive than this donkey. Listen to the thing squeal around every corner.

Glad those aren't the planned head and tails, yuk. Does make me fascinated to see how the "best car" debate will start raging again between the big three when it finally comes out. Ah, the good old days...

Wonder how fast it was going? Then again Ford needs to head out and run a Mustang around the ring

Typical GM propaganda . Chevy's answer to everything is more HP. But what good is it if you can't put it to the pavement ? Also when is Chevy going to step into the 21st century and build a OHC V8 ? Maybe we shouldn't rush them . A few years back, they finally , FINALLY built a better V8 incorporating a beefier deep-skirted block, something Ford has done since 1954 with the Y block , FE , MEL , an the Mod motor of today ! Chevy is in that aspect alone , 50 years behind . Besides , at 125,000 miles my Mustang will still be going strong . The camaro with 85,000 miles on it will be a dog with its tongue hanging out ! Probably smoking , for sure just loaded with rattles . Engine lights coming on , computer issues, being flat-bedded to the garage .... you know !

don't hold back Rich tell us how you really feel.

I think it looks alright and seems to move around the track pretty good. Nice 400hp 6 speed. Just what ferd should have done with the stock gt's .....at least the 6 speed.

I agree about most of the little stuff falling off, crappy build quality issues of chevy, but my friends cavalier went past 250k, and he is not the "regular maintenance" type. It was ugly and beat to hell but it still ran.

I dont understand this mentality at all. If theyre able to put V8s in cheap cars that make more power than the 'more advanced' engines coming from other manufacturers, and still get mileage AT LEAST as good as the competitors whats the problem???

Theres something ironic about someone on a mustang forum criticising big, low tech, high displacement V8s that makes me laugh.

I've gotta agree with Scott, as much as I am a Ford man, and as much as I think the next Mustang will own the Camaro (though I still welcome the Camaro, I know, I'm weird) I still greatly respect the LSx series of engines.

The fact that they can use a big displacement, lower tech motor to make better power and similiar/better efficiency as our high tech small displacement motors is astounding and a feat of engineering. I wish ford had stuck with the Windsor motor, the new Mustangs could use the weight savings and it would be great to see those old motors developed to the extent the SBC has been

I wouldn't be too hasty to put a car down based on the rattles if I were you. My Mustang is only at 20K and its got plenty of them.

I wonder if the Mustang would make as much tire noise going around the same track ?

Well put Arin.

The new Camaro is going to be extremely fast with the LS3.

I'd like to see how a Mustang handles the 'Ring in real life, because it wasn't that great in GT4.

I wouldn't say astounding, the LSx engines are really good engines that make use of some very mature technology. Now if GM was making 400hp 4.0 liter OHV smallblocks that had a conventional redline around 6500 rpm, that would be astounding. If Ford were to apply the same tricks that GM is using on the LSx you would see output increase by a good bit (and perhaps they have with the rumored 400hp 5.0).

GM made alot of good descions with the LSx program (they had big shoes to fill), but there is nothing mystifying about them at all.
