Thankfully, I did not see South Dakota listed as one of the places being considered.
Um, the Ford Fusion and Fiesta are hecho en Mexico, too.

Yep! I know Ford is building in Mexico. No argument about that. I was disappointed when Ford made that move. But, my point was, with the economy being in the tank, why not build the car here, and introduce it as American made. VW is building a new facility in TN to introduce a North American unit, to replace the Passat in the U.S., so why not Fiat?

They just want to use the current capacity that Chrysler has, I guess.

Is it okay to admit that I want the electric version?

It should be out in 2012.

all of you nay sayers are crazy.
this car is awesome!!!
i am really looking forward to seeing the fiat in person!

reason why most euro cars don't do good when they come over is because of the rebadging, imo. keeping the fiat name is great, no matter what happened 20+ years ago. look at kia and hyundai and the bad reputation they both had a while back. that's certainly changed.

I think we can do that, Fiat has a potential hit on their hands.

True, but Hyundai/Kia remained in the USA and people actually witnessed their improvement.
Unlike Fiat who left the USA market 25 years ago and most of average car buyers have no idea what they were doing since.

i bet though that very many american car buyers have never heard of fiat, just like many had never heard about mini before it came over.

not yet!
i test drove numerous cars before buying my fit, and now i am test driving more since my wife is looking for a car to replace her '99 mustang.
we are planning on driving the new V6 mustang, and plan on checking out the fiesta (although, we both HATE the name [we are mexican for crying out loud ])
