Did KIA think creating commercials featuring a bunch of homeboy rodents to promote its "Soul" would be a major drawing card? Makes me want to toss a handful of D-Con into every one I see.

Most likely yes, since Soul's hamster commercial was in the Top 20 most watched commercials in the USA and Soul is Kia's second best seller (84,000 were sold in the first 8 months this year).

Kia Soul is actually a pretty nice car. I test drove one when they first came out and I didn't had any big complains. A lot of space, drives well, economical, really cheap ... Basically, its probably the best new car for under $14,500.
I just wish Kia would offer their 1.6L diesel from the European market ...

the soul is actually a pretty decent car. You forget it's not supposed to be a 35k luxury car. Its meant to be a cheap car, and that requires some sacrifices. They hit a homerun with the hamster commercials, people in the younger age group love the commercials.

The Pacer was originally designed for a wankel which AMC licensed from GM until GM dropped the rotary engine due to fuel consumption and pollution concerns forcing AMC to go with a more conventional engine.

If you have 14k to blow on a car, teens tend to go for civics or toyotas for some reason. reliable cars that they turn into ricers.

Good luck finding a new Civic (or any new Honda) for $14,500.
And the only Toyota that's cheaper than Soul is the Yaris ... much smaller and powered by a 1.5L 106 hp engine.

a brand new kia soul OR a 2008 civic Si OR a 2006 BMW 328i OR a 2011 mustang v6 (Gave you a japanese, german and american car) both with under 40k
