Traded in the mustang for Mopar
The time came to trade in the mustang. I wanted to upgrade to a V8 and also wanted some more room. Unfortunately as you guys ll know, the mustang isn't the most practical car. I got a smoking deal on a 2009 Charger RT. I think eventually I may go back when I can comfortably afford a GT.
Here are some pics of the new ride. Not quite as flashy but definitely has more power and speed than the V6 base.

The Charger R/T is powered by a 5.7-liter V8 making 368 hp and 398 lb-ft of torque. A five-speed automatic is standard. Fuel economy rates 16/25/19 mpg with RWD pushing 4085#.

That thing does have 4 doors, but it's not really that much more "practical" than a Mustang IMO. Also extremely hideous...especially those wheels...but that's just one guys opinion. I would have just upgraded to a GT instead.

My father has a 2006 charger, the interior is like it was made by Matchbox, with same crappy plastic they use on their diecast cars ( cant blame it, 2005 mustang same **** thing). I love all the new mopar offerings, their interiors went from 0 to 100 in a blink of an "eye" aka "bankruptcy". I cant wait for 2017-18 when they start replacing the charger/challenger with all new models, I hope for the best, and wish its still enough retro, without looking like a whole different car.

I like the looks of the Chargers personally and I was looking forward to an Auto Show a few years back to test drive one. I was so disappointed on how large it felt in comparison to the Mustang, and also the Trans Am I own. I never would have guessed it. That's why test drives are so imperative.
Enjoy your ride! I still admire the looks of them whenever I see one on the road. Sure beats an 'appliance' car.

Should've gotten the newer body style. The interior quality is night and day versus the older one. Also, the R/T is no faster than your old V6, with a lot worse gas mileage....

A Man Just Needs Some....
Quit beating the guy up people. He needed a 4dr. Got a V8. It's an upgrade to a sixer stang. Last I checked, the V8 4dr has limited options. I'm sure it was cheaper than a G8 (although that would have been my choice). And some people could give a rats *** about gas mileage.
Enjoy your car OP. Get rid of those wheels. Trade it on a G8 later.

Nice looking car. Congrats on the purchase.
I'm fortunate enough to have both a Mopar and my Ford.

I am not sure why everyone is trashing the rims. Maybe a bad angle. They are Vossen VVS085. Staggered 22x9 and 22x10.5. People raved about other guys when they put them on other stangs.
As far as the Hemi has as much power as new V6... Anyone with an pre 2011 GT knows that it's not exactly the same. The older GTs are still faster than the new V6. Those two extra cylinders make a huge difference. Plus with a catback, there is no comparison of V6 sound vs V8.
After my student loans are paid off I have a feeling I'll be going back to a mustang. I loved driving it and they are an amazing machine. I just want some V8 power and a trunk to put my golf clubs in.

I am not a big fan of the new body style. The interior is way nicer and has more features plus a slight bump in power. Plus I didn't want to spend $30k. I got mine for less than half with 45k on the odo.

Good luck with the new ride.

Traded in the Mustang for a Charger...
The sad day came and I traded in my Mustang. I was looking for more space and more power. The Charger is pretty much the only car that fit the bill. V8 muscle car with size and space. There was no way that I was going to get a Camry or Accord. Got a smoking deal on a used Charger R/T. I think eventually I will go back to a Mustang when I can comfortably afford at GT. Perhaps after the student loans are paid back (d@mn you grad school).

Charger is not a bad car for a big guy or somebody who needs a lot of passenger room, especially with the v-8 in rt trim. One thing that prevented me from getting one is that they don't come with a manual transmission. And I have never gotten an explanation, a reasonable non-bull**** explanation, why this is.
