Yeah, it's getting interesting seeing the US market more influenced by the global market, instead of being so insulated as it has been in past years.

Maybe as a reault we can get more models over here that we don't normally see as attempts to gain share get more heated.

Unfortunately, 2 vehicles I'd rather not see are the Toyota Yaris and Honda Fit. Yuck. They can keep them - bring the cool stuff. So when is Ford going to bring the good stuff?- GM did it (just not as well as hoped for).

I was thinking the Aussie Fords in particular, but there are some others, including the microcars which might have a place on US roads.

I'm partial to the European Focus that was featured on another thread.

I hear you on that. Although I drove a Focus ST that we got in the other day. Very nice car with plenty of pep. I just didn't like the rear wing, that would have to go for me.

I would like to see a Falcon GT-P in person sometime. Very cool cars.

Many "imports" are build in USA and many "domestic cars" are build outside USA (Mexico, Canada).

Be sure to cross off any DCX product off the list since they are pretty much owned by Mercedes-Benz.

Does this apply to all the rest of the products you buy? Sorry, but we live in a global economy these days. Like it or not, it's reality.

I don't want to start a flame war here, just asking a question.

I actually strongly disagree with you. Reason being is that even if certain domestic models are "assembled" outside the US, they are still comprised of mostly "american" parts. Most of the foreign cars however, even when "assembled" here are made up of mostlu "foreign" parts
So GM and Ford are very much still american brands. Not so much dodge since Mercedes owns them basically.

So don't be fooled by the fact they are built here, cause that doesn't mean as much as the parts being from here

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. I think percentage of parts and place of origin are important if you're a flag waver but other than that I completely miss your point. Sorry if I'm obtuse.

I'd rather evaluate a car on its appeal to consumers rather than point of origin. If the so called Big 3 did this they wouldn't be in the sorry state they are now.

hmm let me try and clarify a bit. Well it isn't just important if you are a flag waver as it is if you are an american period. The worse Ford and Gm do the worse off our economy will be. Part content is important because all the money they spend for parts goes to other American companies.

Now I'm not saying it is totally wrong to buy foreign but I just wanted to point out that most of the money you spend on a foreign car goes to foreign countries which in turn hurts our economy.
