I said it once, and I'll say it again, drive by wire is a POS. My brothers 06 Matrix acceleration assembly had to be replaced last year, but fortunately, his stuck in idle and the engine didn't want to rev up. He was with his wife and their baby during that time. I'm glad that nothing bad happened to them besides the car breaking down.

Ford too?
Didn't read where they blamed the 'American' part like Toyota alleges... a poster said it affects Ford too:
"the gas pedal problem has even effected Ford motor company who had to stop production of certain truck models since they were using the same gas pedal assemblies made by the Chinese firm that supplied Toyota. I don't think this is the end of the line for this gas pedal problem, it may expand even further since communist China (sadly) is the new manufacturing hub of the world."
PSA Peugeot Citroen, Europe's second-biggest automaker, is recalling almost 100,000 vehicles that could have the same accelerator-related trouble that caused Toyota Motor Corp.'s massive recall.
France's Peugeot on Saturday said the recall would involve about 10% of the Peugeot 107 and Citroen C1 models produced at a factory in the Czech Republic where it and Toyota jointly manufacture cars, according to news reports.
The plant is managed by Toyota and manufacturers about 330,000 cars annually, according to the venture's Website.

Looks like sales are down too because of recalls.
In January, Toyota's sales were down by 16%.
