Surprised there wasn't more reaction today. Or was it announced after hours?

No surprise. And it is temporary, after all. I hope Japan can get parts, paint, etc. back into production as quickly as possible. Or we'll see just how much of a global economy we really have!

I heard the initial reports between 2-3 pm, but they were still gathering info and it was after hours before anything substantial was reported.

All those people who work at Toyota's factories in the USA will be out of jobs and they won't be able to afford any car, domestic or import.

Plus all of the suppliers that they get parts from here that will be affected, and the local economies where those manufacturers are located, and increased uncertainty in the markets, and so on and so on....

Wow! that is a bold thing to say. 25,000 jobs in America have been lost, and that also means unemployment is going to skyrocket. There is already enough unemployment in this country

You are very close minded.

And after pearl harbor, I don't see how any true American would want to go and support a japanese automaker.... My grandfather defiantly taught me better.

Reminds of a story when I was a coffee man. They opened the prison over in Crescent City. The linen/rug guy (Steiner/American Linen) shot to the biggest sales in the region - and he didn't have the prison account.

After everything else thats happened in the world since then, I can't beleive how any true American would want to be such an ignorant fool

I'm all for supporting American manufacturing, but I don't beleive in ill-wishing a company from another nation that just had a terrible tragedy because of a war from another era.
