Top Gear America

Ok you all know that TG america rumors are sufacing again...
Now it seems Adam Corrola might be involved.
This got me thinking of at least two guys who really know thier cars and should be in it.
Tommy Kendall and Dean Skuza.
Both have the cred and both are very funny guys and both have actually hosted shows before.
I think if these two were in it I'd be interested in seeing it.
Adam Corolla..hmmmmmm No so sure. He has his moments I guess.

Corolla works OK when he has a good foil, witness The Man Show. When its just him alone, he can suck pretty badly. Kendall's still working for Speed TV, isn't he? Unlikely NBC would give him a shot in that case.

What makes TG work is the chemistry between the guys, that should be the primary concern in casting. Of course, it won't be.

They should get one former pro driver. Maybe Rusty Wallace, he has some TV experience (NASCAR Now on ESPN and broadcasting NASCAR races on Fox). Or Bill Elliott, he's barely driving these days.

I still wanna see Stacey David (he used to host "Trucks" on Spike TV).

ehh stacy is a tool LOL I never understood his appeal
Both Kendall and Skuza are/were pro drivers
Kendall raced Trans Am (mustang) and Skuza is a funny car driver/owner

If they get even one Nascar dude to host that show I'll never watch it.
If i want to see anything Nascar I'll just tune into any of the shows Speed runs on any given night

How about Mario Andretti or Al Unser Jr. then?

I really like the Kendall idea. Scott Pruett is another storied veteran who might be looking for a new gig sometime soon. Still, I think Bill Elliott is the perfect choice. While he may have been a NASCAR driver he need make no apologies as he was and is a world class race car driver, performing wonderfully in any kind of car he piloted. In fact, he had some pretty amazing success on road courses racing IMSA Mustang's several years back. I actually believe that part of the reason his star fell so quickly in NASCAR is that he was still a world class driver in a racing sreies which was no longer really about world class drivers. Factor in his extraordinary like-ability and polite southern bend and he would be a great hot shoe for such a show IMHO.

That said I'm also not really feeling Stacey for this gig. And unless Corrola is more of a car guy than I suspect I'm not a fan of that strategy either.

I think they should stuff this whole idea back up the rectum of the person who thought it up in the first place.

No way this show will be as good as the UK version. No way, no how, no chance.

Of course, that's just my opinion. Any similarity to actual reality is strictly a coincidence, I'm sure.

I just hope BBC America keeps showing the original (albeit previous seasons).

tim and jay would be cool; but what most people dont realize is that the three guys in the UK version had no training as drivers, heck James Mays was a pianist. There's no way that a US version will be as good, but it doesnt have to be bad.

If Tim Allen can be anything like Tim "The Toolman" Taylor, Top Gear US will be a huge success.

Heard Adam Carolla on a local radio station, and he said he's filming the pilot for NBC this Thursday out at a Marine Base (if memory serves).

Maybe in the American version there wont be so many lies about American cars. This type of thing has happened on several occasions...

They claim that a horse beat a 300 hp mustang around a dirt track but when you view the footage they are obviously using a V6 mustang.

They claim to have built an electric car that could beat a 500 hp Shelby GT500 but in reality what they have is the 315hp Shelby GT.

And they mock the GT500 when it failed to put out 500 rwhp stock on a chassis dyno. As if we are supposed to believe they have never heard of drive train loss.

And finally the Cadillac CTS-V which they really could find nothing wrong with they still gave a bad review because it felt "just too American."

How about in our American version we say.. "This new M3 is really cool and super fast, but it just feels too European." How dumb would that sound?

Their obvious prejudices and holier than thou attitudes make me sick.
