Gulp!

It'll be the wife's vehicle and our kid kruiser. Wife's got a 3 mile commute and daycare is on the way.

We're looking at a 2yr old one w/ 20K miles. A $35k vehicle (new) for $14k.

So no $3 gas, but the money we save should make up for the fuel bill. Heck, it only gets 1-2mpg less than her Liberty Renegade she's got now.

But I like Jack.

She wants the 3rd row seat. She's a twin, we've got one still in diapers, and she's planning on having another. With the plans of having another, there's a distinct possibility of one turning into three since she's got the twin gene. I guess we're planning ahead. Worst case scenario, the 3rd row folds into the floor but we've still got them there for when her family from Florida comes to visit.

Prefect combination...
Short commute and low used car prices.
Go for it.
There may be an Expedition in my future yet.

well, it's not much of a step down from a liberty mileage wise, I still dont know how those things manage as little mileage as they do

Yeah, it does seem to be lower than you would think they could get.
Heck, my 455 cu. in. Oldsmobile was EPA rated at 17 highway.
(It did have a 2.41 rear)

Thanks guys. She's happy. So much for my plans to step down to a smaller, more fuel efficient vehicle. I was pushing the Patriot, she wanted the Grand Cherokee... then she saw the Commander - and well, now it's in my garage... just barely

They definitely get what they want. The room is nice though. Mines got the Expedition EL after going through 4 other vehicles. I just hope she'll keep this one for a few years.

What's the EL? Is that like what used to be an XLT? Or is it an extended Expedition instead of the Excursion, etc?

Extra Long like me.

It's a true suburban length Expedition with an extra 16" or so behind third row seats.

Cool, I didn't know Ford was doing that. I know GM did w/ the Escalade, now I'll have to watch out for one of those EL's on the road.
