Think I saw my first 09 Challenger.

I was on the way home from redwing with the family down Hwy 42 witch is a 4 lane road, driving with a pack of cars in the dark Saturday night. I was driving along looking at the tail lights, while trying to think of what make of car the tail lights might be. I saw a set ahead of me that I could not quite make out, Then it occurred to me that I was looking at a new challenger five cars ahead of us. I was in the right lane coming up on where I live trying to get closer (The challenger was in the left lane 5 rows up) but when I was only two cars away it was time to take the turn towards home. I had already passed one turn already and I had the family with telling me I should have turned at the last corner. I think it was silver and I really wanted a better look at it. I’ll have to wait a bit longer I guess. This got my blood pumping.

Saw an orange one setting in front of a local dealership. I though these things were going to be rare with almost all preordered?

Saw a black one tonight in movie parking lot. Looked really good. Not as large as I had feared, but the front and sides are better than the back.

Last Thursday on the Ohio Turnpike, I saw one new orange Challenger on the back of a car hauler. Strange thing was that it was on there with four new Chevy trucks.

I saw my first one last night as well. I thought it was waaay too big. Why would you build a pony car based on a full size sedan like the 300? It's like building the Mustang on the 500/Taurus platform. It's just wrong.

I saw an orange Challenger SRT8 at a local dealership tonight. It's just sitting there by itself. I thought about parking my Bullitt next to it just to get an comparison for size but didn't feel like going back with my camera. I don't care for the carbon fiber looking decal hood stripes. It is listed for $41K with a $15K ADM putting it at $56K. Good luck with that. It looks sexy as all hell, but I can't see anyone paying that kind of cash for this beast when the manual trans are being released next year.

I saw another one today. This one was orange. It was loaded in a enclosed tractor trailer rig and you could se the passenger door and c pillar and that beautiful orange color through the open side door of the trailer. I stop off to talk to the guy as it was just up the street in my neighborhood and I said somebody getting a challenger, he said that he was shipping it to his other house in florida, he didn't have room in his garage here. I also got the brochure from the driver about transport, they car owner told me he was spending $1300 to ship the car to Florida and he had used these guys before to transport a superbird with never a problem. The guy owned nothing but Mopar cars.

I didn't see all the car, but that orange is beautiful and the hidden b-pillar and hips were very distinctive on that car I noticed it as soon as I turned a corner 600' away. I think I like the car, despite the fact its a Dodge, and I hate Dodges.

There are two things that make men act irrationally:

Women and cars.

The gotta have it's will pony up the money for a car that, in all honesty, is really not worth it.

The 09 challenger will be out in Sept. and they will be charging 1800.00 extra for a manual. I ordered one but I'm not sure if I should spend 51000.00 for it.

I saw one (twice) Saturday and Sunday. Saturday I passed one slowing down for a light, asked my wife if that was the new challenger, then suddenly we were both doing the OMG head twist to look. I was in the wife's CRV. He pulled up beside us, I promptly rolled down the window and let him know I liked it. The guy and his buddy were both smiling like idiots (my wife said I looked like that for half of 2005). This one was black and an srt/8. he let traffic get ahead of him then he got on it pretty good. I was surprised how good it sounded stock (he still had the temp tag on it).

All in all I liked it, but not 48,000 worth.

Funny how a lot of you are commenting on how the car is not worth it, especially with the mark ups, but you may recall that back in 2004 when the S197 was released, several people paid $10k over MSRP to be one of the first to have the new mustang. The same thing will happen with the Challenger and the Camaro.
