Superbowl ad for Lincoln LT
so you guys feel that the blackwood floundered cause it was just bad and not because there's a lack of a market for luxury pick ups? The blackwood really only lacked functionality, so that's suggesting that people didn't buy it cause they actually need pick up capabilities, implying that the people who are gonna buy this thing are not rappers and movie stars, but succesful farm dudes and construction workers. Oh, yeah, people who ride horses too, they have money and they two stuff.
It isn't like Lincoln doesn't make trucks, they DO!
The Navigator has been successful, the Aviator less so (but I like it none-the-less) The Blackwood was a nice concept that had a very very narrow market. Even people with that kind of money want it to be functional. I guarantee it'll be a collectible one day!

The reason the Blackwood failed is no useable bed, lack of any other color than black and a $55K price tag. Same thing for the Marauder, only in black the first year and the ones we had didn't sell until there were rebates on them. Even in '04 we didn't have people busting the doors down about them. Give me $35K and I'll buy a Cobra whether I'm a family man or not.

Just because people won't use the functionality doesn't mean they won't want/demand it. (Draw your own conclusions as to the intelligence of said people)

I like the LT...but I think they should have brought it out a year earlier(I saw the 'concept' in person...awesome interior)
I don't think the problem with the Blackwood was its functionality or limited color choices(how many blue Escalades have you seen?)...it was the way it looked.
If you compare the Blackwood with the Escalade or even the Navigator, it just doesn't look very 'luxury.' Its a bit too round and soft, compared to crisp and ironed as the Escalade is. Its a very subjective thing...but I am willing to bet that this was a major factor in the Blackwood's dismal sales figures...
