Go to link below for full article.

"Slated to bow in the first quarter of 2009 as an early 2010 model, it's expected that the Camaro will be offered in three trim levels — LS, LT and SS. The base LS may be powered by Chevy's 3.5-liter pushrod V-6 making about 220 bhp. The LT models would use the overhead-cam direct-injected 3.6-liter V-6 developing upward of 300 bhp, while the SS will be powered by a 6.2-liter LS3 V-8 (similar to that found in the Corvette) tuned to produce around 400–405 bhp. A year after launch, Chevy will introduce a convertible version and after that a high-performance Z28 model with a super-charged 6.2-liter sibling to the Corvette ZR1's LS9 motor known as the LSA. That engine would make somewhere in the neighborhood of 480–500 bhp and is similar to the engine used in the upcoming Cadillac CTS-V." Matt DeLorenzo Road&Track, July 2008.

I wouldn't hold my breath on that article it has some inaccuracies. The LSA is as moose said a detuned (watered down) version of the LS9. According to the latest press release it just laid down 556 HP 551 tq in the new cadillac cts-v. GM is advertising the CTS-V supposedly at 12.0 @ 118, 0-60 under 4 seconds and labeling it the fastest sport sedan. We are hearing more rumors of a non intercooled LS8 with the 480-500 range (no titanium rods too) and much cheaper price tag.

Telling you guys that you can't use the "I only have 4.6L" anymore now the you are getting an engine of equal displacement. .

Other than that R&T article, I'd never seen any statement from anyone credible in the industry that the Camaro was going to get the LSA. To my knowledge, GM has never stated anything about the LSA being used in anything other than the CTS-V. Wouldn't make sense to use it in the Camaro. The engine was designed for quiet, efficient power. A more "refined" engine to use in a car that demands that. The Camaro does not fit that mold. Matter of fact, I think most Camaro owners would rather have a less refined engine. They probably want to be able to hear the blower. Besides that, I'm sure cost is going to be a major concern for GM on the Camaro and that alone would axe the LSA from the option list.
And BTW, be careful when describing the LSA as a "de-tuned" or "watered-down" version of the LS9. Although I can see some degree of accuracy in that description, GM and many others have been trying to combat it.

That is NOT going in the mustang...only a truck

5.0 VS 6.2

we still have the ('we're smaller by over a litre')
and you'll have the ('we're big boned... she has a 'nice personality')

That's ok. With the reality of $4+ per gallon gas, GM is scrambling to figure out what to do with all those big-displacement engines. Hell, they are now planning on a 4-cyl. engine in the base Camaro! Time for GM to start thinking of ways to get power W/O adding displacement.
Fast-forward to 2010 and you might see a twin-turbo 4 or 6 as the high-output Camaro engine. Fuel prices are causing a whole lot of re-thinking in this country lately.

Camaro SVO! Ford's been there, done that and would probably do it better (again).

Probably, since they "should" learn from their mistakes. I for one never thought throwing a turbo on a Pinto motor was a great idea.

Never heard anything even halfway serious about a 4-banger in the Camaro. Too much car for that.

Well ever since Max Bob made mention of the idea of a Turbo 4 in the camaro, a lot of people have considered it gospel.
